How to make monitor turn on automatically
« on: June 10, 2012, 07:05:06 pm »
I'm looking for some help on how to get my monitor to turn on when I power on my pc. First of all I am using a viore lc26vh56 26" tv for my monitor. I am also using an energy saving surge protector. The surge has a master plug in spot where my pc is plugged into. When I turn on the PC it sends power to the rest of the plugs. When I had my test monitor hooked up it would turn itself on as soon as I turned the computer on but my viore tv monitor will not do the same thing. I am wondering if anyone knows how I can get it to turn on when the pc turns on just like my test monitor did.

Right now I am just using the remote to turn it on because none of the TV buttons are accessible. My only other thought about how to do this would be to take the monitor apart and somehow tap into the power switch and wire it up to the computer switch.

I searched the forums but I couldnt find any info on this though I was pretty sure I saw some threads about this issue at one time.

This is called something like "Power return" or "Power Resume" and the simple fact is some tv's have it and some don't.

If there's any kind of "setup" menu on your tv, check there, or check the manual to see if it has that option.

Essentially, what you want is for the TV to "resume" whatever power state it was in when power was interrupted.

That way, you just leave the TV ON, and it'll always come back on when you turn power on to the cab.

I was unable to find a feature on the TV that would make it power on so I had to open up the tv case and hack into the power button. It was much easier than I anticipated. I think I am going to try to post a short tutorial on how I did to help aid others who want to do the same. I will link to it as soon as I get it up.

Some tv's have a sol called "Hotel Mode" which enables a hidden menu. In that menu you can sometimes do what you want

Interesting, I didn't know about that but I have started searching about it now. I have found alot of info on the hidden menus but none on a Viore not surprisingly. I think I'm going to contact them and see if they will give me the way to access this menu.
