Does the top dimension say 14"?

Sorry, my hand writing's kind of bad. The top dimension says 34". On the left side, it says 17" and 15". Does it sound like a good dimension size for all the parts I want to fit on/inside of it? To make things easier, I included as a file attachment the dimensions for the cabinet as well. The cabinet design is inspired by the design on the Project Arcade Version 2 CD-Rom.  If you recommend shaving off a few inches anywhere(on the Cabinet or the Control Panel), feel free to let me know.

I know you have been getting a lot of advice from everyone, so here is mine. Forget about dates and times, everything is always going to take longer to get started and way longer to complete than you had planned, so just take your time and enjoy the ride :droid.

I'll be using a 20'' LCD Monitor. If you have an idea on what would fit better in my cabinet, let me know.

Thank you, darthpaul. I know there's been delays here and there, but I'm still looking forward to the project whenever it begins. You also picked the right emoticon for your post, because R2-D2 is my favorite droid from the Star Wars series(I've seen all six movies).  :)

Hope you'll been watching Clone Wars as well.

I haven't had a chance to watch the Clone Wars yet, but I would like to watch it. I'll have to check to see if it's on NetFlix through the Nintendo Wii(since my family owns a Nintendo Wii with a NetFlix subscription). I wish I would of had the money at the time to buy the parachuting R2-D2 figurine. Not to get distracted from my project, but is anyone still selling the Parachuting R2-D2 new in the box?

It's been awhile since I've updated this thread(and been on the forums), but I wanted to let you all know that my project hasn't been cancelled, it's just been on hold due to life getting busy. I have a few ideas I'm considering from what I might do in replacement of this project. I'm going to talk to my father about it today, so I'll let all of you know what I came up with.

just wondering if you've taken a look at the jakobud plans? They aren't  100% accurate , but they give you a really good idea how big many arcade machines are. You may be able to edit an existing plan to fit your needs.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

I haven't noticed the jakobud plans. Anyhow, I decided that my MAME cabinet project will be a miniature cabinet, due to the fact that the house that I live in with my parents is too full to put in a large cabinet. However, one day, I would like to make a normal-sized cabinet. Luckily, I already have one of the objects I'll need for a project. My father owns an old laptop(a dell with a Pentium 4 processor). So I'm testing it to see if all the games I'll be playing on it will work with it. Either that, or there's a Mac Book that my sister owns which she might pass on to me if she gets a new Mac Book. So I do have some good options. I already downloaded MAME onto the laptop, so I'm making some progress.

If you're considering a smaller cabinet, might I suggest you use a Weecade design? The Weecade has been used by many people now so there are a lot of examples of it out there to draw inspiration from. Here's a link to Rasmus' website. He is the original designer of the Weecade:

What do you think, PBJ?  Should he build a Weecade?

Thank you for the link. I like the design of the cabinet. However, since I'll be including a trackball as well(along with extra buttons), it'll probably be larger than that.

PBJ is our resident weecade hater.  Pay him no mind.

I bet you could fit a trackball on a weecade.  What size ball are you looking to use?

Thank you for the warning, Le Chuck. I'm going to use the UTrak, which has a 3 inch Diameter ball and 3/4 inch panel thickness. I would also like to say that I discovered that calling another person an "old man" is not disrespectful at all, and that it's just an expression. I talked to my parents about the expression, and they said that it's just an expression and nothing to be offended by. Hey, even my sister uses the term about my grandfather from my father's side of the family, and he doesn't get offended by all the term(in fact, he  laughs whenever she uses that term). Anyhow, I just wanted to let you all know, and to admit that it was just me not using correct perception of the term. So that was a mistake on my part.
