Then you pay the fine, get the points, etc.   Jesus Christ . . .

I dunno man, I hear that ark went out and got hisself an edumacation and is soon going to earn twice what you do.

Maybe we should listen to him since he seems to be the Second Coming Of Chad(tm).

Or we could just see him as Yet Another Internet Troll(also tm) and view his advice the same way that we view PBJ's.

You are just a grumpy old fart Cheffo.  I think you should put your energies into making a new arcade cab.  Might make you less grumpy.  ;D

I wouldn't ask for Shmokes legal opinion.  He still an unemployed lawyer.  :laugh2:

His ethics is totally ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- up.

If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

And I have more than both of you.

So, you can't find a single job to fit the bill, but still think that you are better than everybody else and will earn so much?

That's even better than if you were unemployed.

I cannot find a single job that will let me go to school (I asked already), but with the events of this economy even having a single job is an achievement, two is just bragging.

So you see you can work and not be a burden on your family and the government. I know that college loan is going to be a killer.

My advice on this thread is based on my PERFECT DRIVING RECORD SINCE I WAS 16.

So go back to gumming your breakfast Mr grumpy pants.  :lol

Ya know the US Army National Guard has a 100% loan repayment program.  You know what that is?  The benefits of selfless service.  Put that perfect driving record to work - 88M baby!  Yeah!

Isn't that like saying "I've never been to jail" or "I take care of my kids".

It's why old folks like me (and I'm only 44) laugh at idiots who think that merely doing the obvious makes them heroes.

As for your perfect driving record, the only thing that establishes is that you have absolutely no experience with the legal system, so your opinion is worth ... well, nothing.

My advice on this thread is based on my PERFECT DRIVING RECORD SINCE I WAS 16.

That's not a very sensible thing on which to base advice to someone who got a ticket. The experience you're basing your advise on is entirely inapplicable to the situation.

In what way?  My perfect driving record has nothing to do with advice on getting a speeding ticket and resolving it?   ::)  That little comment explains it all.  :laugh2:

I have experience in the legal system.  My parents always got speeding tickets, parking fines, etc.  I took care of them all.

I believe you are caught doing something against the rules you should own up and make the restitution. I wish that includes paying your own fines too.. :lol

You are only 44?  Well Mr grumpy pants, we will both be gumming our breakfasts then, even if you are already a year older than me.  :lol

Your profile says 80 something right?  Well either way you are clearly a shifty person with something to hide a not to be trusted... or it's Alzheimers.  Are you sure you're 43?  Maybe you're misremembering again.  Press the button in your hand and that nice women you think is your granddaughter or wife will come give you a pill and adjust your blankets.

Anyway, if he wasn't owning up and making restitution how is it that his ticket disappears? If the state determines that his debt to society is paid, who are you to argue? How do you arbitrarily make the determination that the default fines/points the legislature created are de facto legitimate, but the optional systems the same legislature created for dealing with them are not?

Any chance that school of yours offers a course in informal logic?

Not to mention that having a perfect driving record only proves that you haven't been caught doing anything, at best. I also have a clean record (i.e nothing more than a parking ticket) on my license but I have gone over the speed limit on many an occasion, made an illegal turn or six and, in my younger and stupider days, may have driven when I probably shouldn't have been driving.

I've heard the "perfect driving record" boast from people I wouldn't want driving the hearse with my lifeless body in the back.  Summing up: it's a meaningless thing to brag about.  ;)

That art work I reproduced by hand, and was slightly off.  Actually I emailed them asking for permission to use some PacMan artwork.  Still waiting.

I got a nice email from Mr Bluth with regard to some Space Ace artwork I asked to reproduce (did I mention I met him?) and directed me to DLLC. Still waiting.

How many emails do you send to arcade companies Mr grumpy pants?  None I bet.   ::)

Soon that copyright law will be passed in the UK that prohibits any image reproduction without royalties....

Move abroad...
Come on, which country gives points on speeding tickets!!!!
Here you can drive 80, and when you do 90, it only costs you 30€.
Next country (Bratwurstland): still most highway miles without speeding limits.
Just don't do red lights here or use your mobile... Damn this have become expensive: 250€

I've been told you can flat out ignore tickets issued by cameras but I've never gotten one to test it myself.

 :dunno

Not all cameras are the same. Some cameras are operated by the city/municipal government and do have backbone. Other camera systems are run by private companies. These companies essentially subcontract out the space to place the cameras. They will issue you what looks to be a legit ticket in the mail. The company splits the ticket fine with the city. most of these companies have zero clout in actually enforcing these so called "tickets'. Every place is different though, check out the setup in your local city first.

it REALLY depends on how the law/ordinance is worded and whether or not you are required to pay it.

if it's a CITY law then chances are that there has been an oversight regarding the "operator of the vehicle"

IE the DRIVER must be charged with the offence, not simply the registered owner. the city can't prove who was driving so no offence can legally be brought against you.

we actually get screwed over here in Alberta because the city took over the registration of vehicles and has privatized the insurance dealings. therefore the city can simply deny you re-registration until you pay off "your" photo speeding fines.

the only bonus about this way of operation is there is no points premiums attached to the fine due to the fact that the city cannot prove YOU where the actual driver at the time.

I got one of these a couple years ago in my girlfriend's car (which is why I don't count it), and since she wasn't in the picture, they couldn't fine her. She also wasn't required to provide who was driving. (That might've changed by now, who knows.)

My city installed cameras years ago at several key intersections, they were operational for a short time and are now dormant due to folks being able to easily fight the tickets and because they use really expensive film. Who knows perhaps if they had waited a few years and used digital cameras things would be different...but we have no cameras now.

That'll probably change. I don't know why most of the cameras aren't just painted over? It takes seconds, and no one driving by would know. The companies/authorities would eventually know, because their pictures would be blank....and then they'd.....put cameras on the cameras!!  HAHAHHAAH.

I bought this about 8 months ago... it really helps.

https://www.cobra.com/detail/xrs-9970g-maximum-performance-digital-radar-laser-safety-camera-detector-with-touchscreen-display.cfm

it has GPS and the locations of intersection cameras programmed into it. and if i find one that isn't in the database, 2 screen presses and it's in there for next time.

i can also turn off all those pesky x band stuff since the police here use k band and laser anyways. so my false alarms are nil now.

Turns out my officer was using 'Light-R'. Speed and range. Didn't know they had that. So, yeah, I lost. But I had a good feeling yesterday....and it was in the mail when I got home.

Lidar.  Laser Detection And Ranging.  Its basically hard to beat esp if they shoot you coming towards them.  Front license plate is a great reflector.  Fortunuately not a lot of departments outfitted with it in the rural areas around here.

Thing about lidar is the area must be clear...no fog, no smoke, no dust in the air, no rain.... or the reading can be off. Not sure if anybody has fought a laser ticket with that as their defence or not but something to consider.

Mmmm, now I remember reading about this technology in some journal ten or so years ago. Right, in inclement weather, it could be contestable. However, the day was quite clear.
