Hi Ed. Hope you had a great holiday season.

Will you have time this weekend to start uploading files to Dropbox? It's pretty obvious that some in depth tutorials or completed software patches are going to be needed for most of us to get anything working as you wish. It would be great if you have time to release anything as it seems we have been stuck for several weeks due to busy schedules (me included).

If that isn't gonna happen...no problem...I can start work on another project for now. Just thought I would ask you. Thank you, buddy!

Sorry you have been under the weather.  The flu season is upon us and is hitting the Chicagoland area pretty hard this year so I know where you are coming from.

I didn't get a PM from anyone but I will be happy to help if contacted.

Let me know when your Dropbox is up to date and please invite me to the folder.  You do have to go to the Dropbox website for folder sharing options as it's not an option to share from your Dropbox program installed on your desktop.

Thanks Ed.

                                HI

ok this is a little byte that i need ppl to understand :living-it:
if u update to sp3 !which u have to to run optipac!,do not allow
microsoft to take u to ie8

all of the file's i up-load from here on in i will expect u to have
installed sp3..

everyone by now should have coyped out the older harddrive's
and gone to a larger drive,so u can take sp3 easily.

now on to the update part
in window's once u ask it to up-date
tell it coustom
there is some patch's that will mess u up big time
so be carefull
if it fail's gunie advantage..ring me up i will up-load a fix
it should however not fail unless the hd has been changed in the
pga

the way i did the edit's in hercule's
is i put in pointer's  ie >> that would be a line u can edit
u will need to do it anyhow because there is just no gerneic gobal-vr
they have gone through 2 of every thing
mobo's
card-reader's
i/o card's
video card's
they even fourced a usb2 on u
and countless rev's
so as u c it is totaly impossiable to make 1 size fit's all
your best bet is to play with the o/s,make it your's
the usa guy's have it lucky >tiger-wood's< is still in there
hidden but there

the patch's are in a non placed order
ie: 1 will be to turn your onboard lan on >none sp3 ppl<
1 will be to enable u to remove the card reader
1 will be to enable u to run without the dongle
1 will be to enable u to load your new video card driver's in propley
these are all written in the main hercule's file
so in short from scratch u would load the new rescue disk it has everything in it
then the rest 1-3
i will get them up onto dropbox
your protocol #'s i will post to u ppl in pm

hi
spitfire
man do u have a not in your nut??
copy this out
>                             Hi

here is another byte for u to think about
when in game mode with the keyboard and mouse hooked up
u hit the escape key,and bang u are in window's or u can
if u want use the window's logo key,use the up/down arrow's
go to gvrcolse hit enter, that's a second way into window's
then rehit window's key
then u will scroll up to control panel
then u go to the up arrow >it is in the search bar<
u are now in the root of the drive
ie:
shared documents
cabinet's documents
pga(c:)
3.5 floppy
dvd rom
and your usb stick if u pluged it in..

now u can scroll to the c: drive which should be labled pga(c:)
double click it,u are then in the root of pga
all is open to u,
!side note here!,if u use a usb stick to load file's
and plug it in >in game mode<  it will show up for u
after doing the upper step's..

now,in the root of the drive
if u double  click on pga(c:)
u will find listed below .dir's

documents and settings
gvr
gvrplus
hercules
nivida
pga_tour_golf_2006
program files
recyler
system volume information
tournament
windows
autoexec.bat
boot.ini
netset.log
netdetect.com
ntldr
pagefile.sys
werumtime.ini
io.sys

ok now on to some edit's
if u go to gvrplus
u will see the gvrdialup.pbk >delete it<
now in the same file folder
u will see (4) open it
in there u will find key >delete it<

now if u want to stop what u are doing
just hit the windows key,tab up or scrool up to gvrboot
hit enter, the game will auto reboot for u<

it is important for ppl running there game's and or whom want to up-date WITHOUT
REMOVING THERE HARDRIVE'S

What would be the benefit of deleting these files, Ed?

I checked this morning and your shared Dropbox folder is still empty.

One more thing, Ed. Are we back to not having a dongle workaround because removing the call in Hercules as you suggested is not allowing Team Challenge to load (even if you put the dongle back in). Not having much luck unfortunately.

Regarding the dongle kill.  I know that originally it was stated that we should be going into PGA and inside the Hercules folder we were to delete the GVRDongleMonitor file in order to kill the dongle verification.  Well that has not worked for me.  After removing that file the game will not load and if I place the dongle back into the computer it will not load either unless I place the GVRDongleMonitor file back onto the hard drive.

The one thing I do notice when my game is loading is that a window opens up for a couple seconds upon loading and I see that "PatchAgent.exe" runs right before you hear the ball drop in the cup and Team Challenge is loaded and ready to go.  I also noticed that the PatchAgent.exe file is in the same Hercules folder that the GVRDongleMonitor file is in.  Do you think that if we deleted that file (PatchAgent.exe) or both files (PatchAgent.exe and GVRDongleMonitor) that it may bypass the dongle check?  It would be great to get my second Team Challenge computer to run without the dongle as that dongle has been lost for over a year.

Has anyone here been able to bypass the dongle or have a similar experience as mine?  I want to get to the end of this issue as it's been driving me crazy for months!  ;D

I did a little more research regarding the dongle call.  I found something that may be interesting.  While in the PGA Team Challenge hard drive folders I went to PGA > pga_tour_golf_2006 > shell > bin and inside the "bin" folder I found two dongle dll files.  One of the files is called "Dongle.dll" and the other is "Dongled.dll".  Do you think that these dlls may be part of the dongle call verification process upon boot?  If we killed the GVRDongleMonitor and PatchAgent.exe files as well as the "Dongle.dll" and "Dongled.dll" do you think that would stop all calls for a dongle verification so the game will be playable?

The thing that makes this interesting was this brief definition of a dll file I found online...

"In a nut shell, a dynamic link library (DLL) is a collection of small programs, which can be called upon when needed by the executable program (EXE) that is running. The DLL lets the executable communicate with a specific device such as a printer or may contain source code to do particular functions."

If the DLL lets the exe communicate with a device (printer) would that mean that it is communicating with the dongle that is plugged into the printer port of our PGA computers?  This may be a bit of a reach here but some of it makes sense to me at least.  Unfortunately I have no real understanding of computer programming or coding so I thought I would throw this out here to see if someone with a little more knowledge on this subject could tell me if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Too many of us have broken or lost dongles and it would be great to have these games up and running again!

I tried to swap another hard drive in my PGA tower and it didn't boot so when putting my Team Challenge drive back in I'm getting an error at boot.  This window pops up and stays on the screen unless I plug in a mouse and press OK.  The error is this...

The file or directory c:\windows\csc\csc1.tmp is corrupt and unreadable.  Please run Chkdsk utility

Upon rebooting I can hit the windows key on the keyboard and run Chkdsk but it does not resolve the error message as it's still there upon booting unless I use the mouse to clear the dialogue box.  I then tried to go into the folder and delete "csc1" in the temp folder but it seems that the folder gets recreated when the computer restarts and I get the same message.  I can't figure out a way to run chkdsk / f as when I try to do that the window doesn't come up showing that it is running.  Any ideas on how to clear this error message?

It's annoying stuff like this that makes me not want to tinker with anything!

hi
stpcore
u took out a dependicie or it is has simply been over-written
>The file or directory c:\windows\csc\csc1.tmp is corrupt and unreadable.  Please run Chkdsk utility<
it is usally caused by a linker file.
window's is not allowed to show u that link in winxpe as there is no dll to fource it to.
all chkdisk is saying to u it think's the mbr is corrupt,
with it wanting a mouse at boot ?,is this the drive u have been playing with ?
or is it 1 out of a stack of drive's ?..
by all mean's if it a drive that has been running and u were testing with it
then we have narrowed a no/no..one of your post's on hercule's
of the last day
u c if it is the one u put into your unit as a usb drive
was it a cable select or a master/slave style?
this would be the drive u added the new wav file to..
u see i need them answer's first then i can help u

to me it look's like u swapped drive's out ?

>I tried to swap another hard drive in my PGA tower and it didn't boot so when putting my Team Challenge drive back in I'm getting an error at boot.  This window pops up and stays on the screen unless I plug in a mouse and press OK.  The error is this...

why swap it out ?
if u follow what i am saying it will not go to mbr problem's
i avoid that problem will all care
hence the reason i have a test box on line and running....

I have a Team Challenge drive that I was able to add the music file to without a problem.  I made a back up drive of Team Challenge on another hard drive by dragging and dropping the entire contents of the original Team Challenge drive that I had.  When I plugged the back up drive in it didn't load at all.  So I then put my original Team Challenge drive back in the original PGA tower and have that error when booting.  I can clear it by clicking OK and it doesn't come back until I reboot the machine.

hi
stpcore
i went over this
windows is fat32/ntfs
we are fat16 with an ntfs overlay >winxpe<
i do believe the fix is this
go into c:\
then look for windows boot.ini and or boot.cfg
edit it..ie turn the mouse call off, from there it should walk right in
i do believe that is the call, been awhile since i have done a windows .cfg/.ini
but i think i am right

side note here my high speed is down tonight,as a matter of fact all of roger's wired network's are down, this is my stick and it just came back on line
so i will get to posting your test u requsted as soon as my high speed is back up

I did some additional experimenting with the dongle call last night and this is what I found.

Removing GVRDongleMonitor, PatchAgent.exe, or both DVRDongleMonitor and PatchAgent.exe at the same time will still result in a dongle fail screen after you hear the ball fall in the cup on the PGA TEAM CHALLENGE loading screen.  However, whenever I removed the "dongle.dll" or "dongled.dll" with or without the GVRDongleMonitor and/or PatchAgent.exe files installed, I did NOT get the dongle fail screen.  The TEAM CHALLENGE loading screen comes up, I hear the ball fall in the cup, and then it attempts to load the game but hangs at the TEAM CHALLENGE loading screen.  I can hear the hard drive running as if it wants to boot but it stays in a loading loop.  So I assume it's either calling for the dongle and waiting for the answer back or it never calls for the dongle but the game is programmed not to load until it gets verification.  In any event, I don't get a dongle fail error screen.

I wanted to post this in the event anyone has additional ideas from here.  Thanks.

seems this is the best place to ask
trying to bring back a pga

i have pga tour, and pga champ  ed 1 dongles
i did a fresh install of pga champ 1 from rescue discs(discs say pga championship 1)
but upon boot i get invalid dongle
(the game screen just says pga championship not champ 1)

i have tried this on 2 motherboards(original pga motherboards not  replacments)
and using 2 different pga champ 1 dongles

any ideas

i know the mobo dongle socket is good because i have a pga tour hdd that  boots up and plays
but after launching a game it errors out with "dx reports not enough graffix memory"

so  if anyone has any pga tour install disck  uploaded somewhere let me know  or an idea why  a champ 1 dongle reports invalid on a champ 1 install

hi
ok as i have 48 hour's to get better or i go to the big h.,
and as we have been looking to get rid of the dongle
i did a little .dis of the gvrdonglemonitor for u ppl to play with
stpcore i know u will now see where we went a tad sideway's
but with this in hand u should beable to complete the task now
i used pe explorer to do the dis, then dropped it into a c++ decompiler
which i am just proffing now to find the linker that is causing the grief
in it u will find 4 common .dll's and 1 not so common
u will also find the dongle it's-self
enjoy the read
more to follow

lucked out and the cab i picked up had 2 challenge keys and challenge install discsl(no pc inside but i have  4 or 5 sitting here )

down side is the monitor in the game  is some weird jap crap thing and will only output 640x480 and i cant seem to get challenge to run at that res
i ended up just yanking it and installing a nice 24 inch led screen

up side is  it has a working led header  woo hoooo

if anyone needs  a championship 1 dongle i have 4
and i also have a pga tour dongle

im keeping the spare challenge dongle since i have a golden te with no board but it has a nice wg  9200 so it seems like a good  conversion

thanks for the help

EDIT
opps gotta turn your head sideways

hi
should be ethier in advanced
where it will not look like resume but power something or another
if not just before  exit there should be a power option's window
on some mobo's u set a jumper if there is no bios setting
it all depend's on the mobo,do u know the type u are using ?

btw congrad's on getting 1 going :)
i take it u had an i/o card ?

contact me pm about your dongle's
would love 1 or 2 if the price is right
