hi
should be ethier in advanced
where it will not look like resume but power something or another
if not just before  exit there should be a power option's window
on some mobo's u set a jumper if there is no bios setting
it all depend's on the mobo,do u know the type u are using ?

btw congrad's on getting 1 going :)
i take it u had an i/o card ?

contact me pm about your dongle's
would love 1 or 2 if the price is right

ed
yea i have several nitric cards  (all the ones i have left are the madden style but  they work with pga just fine(also have a jamma conversion card for pga/madden as well)

found it  finally its under integrated peripherals pwr loss resume state lol

i have gone thrue so many of the pga games its not even funny (all the golden tee customers  instantly switch to wanting a pga when they see one running lol)
think i still have 2 or 3 cases ,and mabey 2 mobos left (with bad caps),as well as a couple of the newer madden  mobo with sata (but still same chipset)
and the nitric /  i/o boards listed above

i always end up with 1 or 2 broken ones for 50-100$ at every auction i go to.(think i came home with 3  last auction)
most either have the neck board of the 9200 fallen off or a bad gfx card (the few with bad caps on the mobo make great mame cabs lol)
and are a easy sell for 600-800$ once repaired
then all the local route guys are blowing out  all theirs for around 300$ each fully working (or with gffx card problems)

im almost at a full set of install discs
just need championship 2
team challenge
and the original pga tour

just finished  cramming everything into the golden tee cabinet
just need to go get some speakers (may just use one of the madden sound boards i have here)
and mount everything in place and its done

2 pga challenge's in 2 days
im doing pretty good

hi
ok for them of us that want to find out why killing a few simple cmd's will not kill the dongle call, last night was the prelude
in this upload u will find the complete .dis of gvrmonitor.exe, there is breif
exp.in there for u to read,it is missing 1 of the dis's as i hit enter to fast so i will need to go get it,then upload it
they are in order of there structure..they may all look the same but they are not
the  file aclloaction table :start-stop: break point's i will upload next, the reason for this if u go to that table, and know how to 0000000 it then it will default to 000000
meaning no key needed.:):)
now that not with standing it could mean it want's ffffff or 333333 it depend's
on how win32api want's to read the code, but i will find out
the next set of tear down's will be win32api.dll,+ the other one's i posted the other night
enjoy the read

what we do is 2 of them dll's link the
pid and cid..these are the game serial # and the dongle build
once i narrow it down to the exact two
we can remove them and rem the call
bang no dongle needed
i know i seen them in a call i do believe i posted,so i will go through my not's
and then do the trace route to the exact dll's

Not sure if anyone cares but I was able to use the RECOVERY DISK for "Challenge" to install "Team Challenge" on a tower today.  This may be useful if you have a recovery disk for an older version of a PGA but doesn't match the version of install disks that you have.  I'm not sure if all the recovery disks will work with any set of installation disks as it seems the operating system is the main component of the recovery but the Challenge recovery disk will work with the Team Challenge install disks.

hi
yes stpcore
it should do that
RECOVERY DISK . all this dose is prepair the hardrive :parition: for the next :game-load's:,it is a perty much a 1 size fit's all thing, olny place's hercule's as the c:\root
and from there deriects traffic as it were, once u load in game disk 1 u are then on your way to the game it will be,so 1-2-3 and 4 if  needed will make your game.
rescue is just that ..recover's the lost info.dat that is made at start
this is what u will find at the root of any running pga :info.dat:
that is the recovery point, much like we can rool window's back to a dif date/time >point<,
now onto more pressing matter's
the linker's i spoke of go to (reg) value's,for them of u not knowing that term
it mean's >h-key's<,window's define's h-key's as a register value.
now with that in hand i will whip up a test script to c if we can kill it on running machine's,with a simple load through usb thumb drive and a reboot.
if i am right we would shut down the putter in question, plug in usb drive, reboot
now i have some thinking to do as to how to mount it..
as a simple delete will not do the trick ?
the :value: must be changed
it might be easy just to post the rewrite and the once u edit the >h-key'<,u would remove the dongle and reboot..that seem's easier to me
let me test here

just for your ppl's know, yes i am better..it broke..doc said go away i got ppl to see
2 thumb's up for ed

dirt i am in the warehouse in the am will post to u

side note here this thread may get moved to reto..and i am good with it
as we are 22 pages deep with 1 of the highest count's of read's and d/l's that's not to shaby, from simple call for help..nor can i count the number of pga's running now because of u fine ppl

It sounds like you are just about there, Ed.  A USB download would be perfect for most of us unless you think that an HKEY edit will be easier for you to compile.  Please keep us posted on your progress as it sounds like you may have this figured out.

Glad you are feeling better.  It's a nasty flu season for sure.

One last question...are we still a go with the server for online tournament play?  I have my dedicated computer ready to help you.

It seems like you aren't having ANY luck lately, man!  Do you want me to take a picture of my cable for you?

Just out of curiosity, what do you plan on doing with the topper?  Mine just ran advertising about Betabrite and showed failed dial up calls.  It drove me nuts and I took it down.  I would love to code into it so that it scrolls text that I enter.  Do you know anything about accomplishing that, Spitfire?

So weird we are talking about these Betabrite headers as I am leaving in a few minutes to pick up a couple of them that are NOS along with a control panel for PGA and another for Golden Tee.  Funny how events fall into place!

Hi Ed,
The cable isn't to rj45 my topper has a 6pin rj11 plug so wrong there mate.
My cousins topper has been programmed to show player stats throughout the game it great. Hoping to make my machine do the same.

Ed would be nice to get some of these game Goodies unlocked such as players, game face items etc any idea when u might show us how? 22 pages on this thread n not one post showing how to make something actually work ha ha ha

I thought you needed some custom software and some reverse engineering to reprogram these things.  If they could display stats that would be AWESOME!!!  Someone please steer me in the proper direction and I will to some testing.  I picked up three of these today along with some other NOS PGA and Golden Tee stuff and I'm ready to tinker a bit!

Hey Spitfire...I plugged in one of my Betabrite LED toppers into my Team Challenge into the serial / com1 port and when the game fires up ALL STATS ARE DISPLAYED!  This was a nice suprise!  So you should be good to go once you get the correct adapter.

Hi all,
Still having trouble getting the recovery disk to work. I know Ed u said to make it bootable but to do this you need diskette images which I can download and add to the cd. However which one should I use as win xpe isn't an option should I use win xp sp2. Please advise of what needs to be done?

hi
spitfire sp2 or 3 is fine
as windows is window's
and the rescue disk is basic
if u make the cd bootale
it should boot  first
right after the bios chk
and run in
as stpcore stated and i have also said the rescue disk is just that
disk1,2,3 are your game disk's

he means make the CD bootable as in go into the BOIS and change the boot order to something like :

1:) CD ROM
2:) FLOPPY
3:) HARD DISK

usually to shave a few seconds form the boot up time...and to keep from people screwing up their computers by leaving a CD in the drive... the order is something along the lines of:

1:) HARD DISK
2:) CD ROM
3:) FLOPPY

this means that even if you wanted to you can't boot off the CD. so you have to change it.

Hi lilshawn,
Thx for the reply but no that's not what Ed means. To make a disk bootable you need to place a bootable .img file on the cd tht contains the rescue files from the operating system u r running otherwise the cd will not be seen by ur PC even if u have chaned the bios as u suggested.
Thx Spitfire

Spitfire, this info is for you!

What you want to do is make a bootable usb stick with HP USB Format tool. Version 2.1.8 is the one that I use. Once the stick is bootable copy the contents of the rescue disk folder to the bootable USB stick. Go into your bios and set up the boot from USB device option. Once booted into the flash stick, at the dos prompt, type PQIMGCTR.EXE. This will bring up the Powerquest image restore window. Chose RESTORE. Point Powerquest  back to your flash stick for the image file called PGAH0018 image. Then follow the prompts. I have found that restoring the image to SATA drives tends to fail. I restore to a IDE drive 20 or 40 gig then when everything is loaded I use Acronis true image and clone the disc to a SATA drive and all work 100%.  p.s  Not sure if the old original DFI boards can boot from USB, but all my newer PT800 MSI boards work well with this method. Hope this helps you.

Cheers,
The-O

hi
the-o
yes that is a work around
but it all depend's on the bios..if it will support older board's
which most of the oringal's do not allow for usb boot...suck's i know...
my up-date's which are now proffed are for usb loading
to get to it u must have a running game,
i am leaning toward's a cd :bootable of course:..
just the legacey ppl are left to cd or floppy.
the reg patch's are not that big,nor is the update's
u would look at a dvd or cdrw and go why ? am i wasting this much space
i do.,but it is the nature of the beast
the other work around that can be done
is to have the box on line..full internet
and lock into pga bot and request a reboot..>working on it now<
it will load fully
in simple term's the older board's support >lan-boot<
so u see where a few problem's come in??
u will need the full set of sp's i have zipped
and am ready to up-load into dropbox
with a >RUNNING GAME< u will place them in system32/system
DO NOT TINKER WITH THE DLL'S unless u ask me as PGA-BOT IS HARD CODED IN
from loading them u will then reboot same said game
it should not bark at u for up-date >expect for ie8<...DO NOT LOAD IT,CLICK ASK ME LATER..i will kill the call..it is on my list of crap to do
the overhead marques if not tinkered with WILL display your game info
if tinkered with :location info/player info it will display that:.to clear the nvram
short 2 pin's to ground..biteright used a few dif nvram's
i will list the dif's,but it is 2 pin's to ground
to clear the nvram

to program it
in a running game with the keyboard go to operater's adjument's/option's/adveristing,adjust from there
THIS WILL NOT WORK ON VERISON-4 DONGLE as it is turney turned off
>btw my fave biatch<
in short the moment u see turrney not enabled u are locked out of the sign until u clear the nvram

to mount the game is simple
u can set the cdrom as lilshawn posted
and or i posted
same ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- dif stack
but get's u there just the same
the point is to get there

Does anyone have a set of drivers for the card reader? My card is recognized by the computer (verified this in Device Manager) but displays the "NO CARD READER" error upon boot.  I don't want to kill it but would like to use it as it is the only way to create and save a golfer that I am aware of up to now.

Ed, are we going to need the operator cards or players cards after your updates?  For example, will we be able to create a golfer and save him to a hard drive or will we still need the card reader to create and save custom golfers?

hi
stpcore
i hard coded most of it in..in short the reader is used olny to :alter: the profile of the player,skin's,name's/etc
we can add the fuction in the control panel..if demand is there..but this is opten to debate.
your card reader should read
hook to the main usb port of the mobo
DO NOT WORRIE ABOUT THE LIGHT'S they mean nothing
if u have a player's card? and or a operater's card it should come as such
if not 99.9% of the time the driver's have been kicked out
this is because u swapped out reader's from a dif mfg..or u had a bad 1 wich kicked out the driver's.disk 1/3 hold the driver's..1 is reg the other is the main driver
with the walk through i expalined how to get to c:\.
u can then go to :pga:
from there go to windows system/system32
look for the proper .dll's/ocx's
if not there,reload them
as i explained chk the 12v and or 5volt rails
if they are out the reader will drop
in pga there should be a aux power supply
this hook's to the coin door/digital bill acepter >dba< ,it must be there
or u are basilcy screwed from the start
DO NOT USE THE PUTTER'S P.S for this

So if my coin door is not running then the card reader won't function?  I don't understand how it's tied into an external power supply as my card reader only has a USB connection that goes to my computer.  I sorry I don't follow what you are telling me as I'm only trying to get the card reader to function.  In addition, my card readers don't have ANY lights on the actual fixture.  The entire enclosure is a solid black plastic probably from a Championship III or similar version.
