AVGA AGP Drivers
« on: October 26, 2010, 05:24:27 pm »
Hi folks...New here...Great resource!

Bought a mame cab about a year ago with an old Atholn 1ghz win 2k box. A couple of weeks ago I decided to upgrade to a newer XP PC (dell optiplex GX270 P4 HT 3ghz). The old box had the Ultimarc AVGA AGP card in it, so I kept it for the jpac/monitor...I'm not sure what AVGA chipset it has and the original cd was not with the cab...I'm not sure how to tell how much ram it has (is it in the BIOS or WinXP system settings somewhere? I think I'd checked and it was either 64 or 128, but I'm not sure how to definitively tell). the card is very similar to the one in this page (I can take a picture of the card if needed):
http://web.archive.org/web/20050204182152/http://www.ultimarc.com/avgainf.html

I originally googled and found/installed these graphics drivers...I'm not sure they are the most recent (or even the correct ones for my card): http://mame.3feetunder.com/ultimarc

Anyway...the drivers above seemed to work and things seemed ok...During the same time, I'd also upgraded ram (2gb of PC4200 ram), and got to work adding a host of emulators (Daphne, Fusion, Stella, Netsopia,SNES ,etc) and Maximus Arcade . However, I've gotten about 3 BSOD's over the past 2 weeks and it seems to be occuring more frequently.

So...The most recent blue screen referred to the ATI dll, which gets me thinking it's a AVGA driver error. I think the other was an atapi.sys error... To rule potential problem children out, I wanted to make sure I have the correct/updated drivers to rule out video drivers as a cause. Then I can attack DDR memory or usb adapters, etc...

Does anyone have this card and the original install cd or the setup/drivers??

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Chris
