I asked a Canadian work colleague why Canada would celebrate Thanksgiving. He said Canadians love any excuse for a holiday
Yes, because Arbor Day is such a smart holiday. Thank you, United Statesians!

No need to get confrontational Rick. Danny's comment wasn't even an insult. Yes, just like anyone else
in the world, Canadians like an excuse not to work.

But in truth, Canada has had pilgrims just like the US -- this land was settled/colonized around the same time for both countries. It just gets colder sooner up here, so we gotta have our harvest in October. But it's the same up for us canucks, giving thanks, eating turkey, time with the family, football and/or hockey.
...and btw, Arbor Day (Arbor week, for you Ontario folks. Maple Leaf Day for the rest of Canada) kicks ass! I'm sure any Canadian would agree, a holiday dedicated to restoring our forests sounds more applicable and responsible, than celebrating something silly and outdated like Victoria Day.
But then again, any excuse not to work is good stuff!
