Useless Hands
« on: July 08, 2010, 01:29:09 am »
It's 6.24am, I have been up since half five because the pain in my hands is stopping me sleeping yet again. Jeez I'm fed up with arthritis.

I haven't been able to work on my cab for weeks, I'm not sleeping, I'm grouchy and work feels like it is killing me.

Makes me wonder why I am build a bloody arcade machine anyway? It's not as if I could play it with my hands the way they are at the moment.

An one fingered typing sucks

dontcha have any percocets?

So after a quick google of the word Perocet gave me "Percocet is Endo Pharmaceuticals' North American brand name for oxycodone/acetaminophen blend tablets." So reverse engineering the American word Acetaminophen to the British word Paracetamol, then the word Oxycodone to "..an opioid analgesic  medication synthesized from opium-derived thebaine. ..developed in an attempt to improve on the existing opiates and opioids: morphine, diacetylmorphine (heroin), and codeine."

The short answer to your question is no, not exactly.

But I am using Codipar, which is a Paracetamol and Codeine blend which in pharmaceutical terms seems to be be very similar to the drug you mentioned given that oxycodone is a semi-synthetic opoid replacement for codeine.

I take Codipar in conjunction with Diclofenac, but to be honest it just ain't cutting it for me. At best all it does is keep the throbbing under control just long enough to get some sleep each night. I know that I just have to sit out this episode until it passes. Trouble is they can last months.

Is Perocet good? I'll talk to my Rheumatologist about it at my next appointment.

post knee surgery I got a prescription, and it worked wonders. My dentist offered me more post root canal and later on an extraction but I passed. There is a risk of dependency, but the drug does its job if used properly.

I used it after my knee surgery too, but it started making me nauseous so I had to stop.  Ended up screwing up my stomach with 800mg ibuprofen instead.  :badmood:

It should go without saying but keep in mind that any and all opiates cause physical dependency within a short amount of time compared to a lot of other drugs.  Opiate withdrawal is not fun and shouldn't be entered into lightly.

I have suffered from arthritis (Viral arthritis bout for 4 months) and the pain i felt was nothing compared to the hell that is getting off of opiates.  Tread carefully!

@Expyx I here what you're saying. It would just be swapping one problem for another.

@Ed_McCarron I've been there, done that with ugly consequences so went completely T-Total as a result 7 months ago.

I had the same problems & started taking cherry supplement pills I got from amazon.  Cherry is a cure for gout & arthritis, you just cant stop taking them.  3 medicines the doctors gave me did nothing.  The Cherry's are the only thing that has worked & my hands are great, also this helped all of my joints about $13.00 a bottle on amazon

You might do a little research jim, gout is very common, anyone that takes blood pressure medicine gets a build up of uric acid in their blood.  This forms crystals in your joints.  I have had it in my hands but not my feet.  This is very painful & it happens in men more than women by far. Usually after 40.  Cherry's have Flavonoids in them which breaks down uric acid & flushes it from your system.

Drinking is the worst thing you can do when you have gout, the alcohol makes the inflamed tissue worse.

Link? I have gout in my left foot.

WTF?  Put down the wine bottle and eat a salad.

Gout - the disease of kings!

If you add up all the wine Ive drank in my life (31 years) its less then 1/2 a glass. I also eat salad about 3 times a week (mostly Caesar, usually with chicken). Gout runs in my family and Ive done the best I could to avoid food and drink that would exacerbate the condition.

alcohol, red meats, grains, rich food all make gout worse.  Like jim said you used to see pictures of rich people with it in feet.  It became known as a rich mans disease.  Its also hereditary & blood measure medicine water pills can cause it.

its yuckie. Jagerbombs for fun or Soco and Lime for a nice smooth shot; thats my preference. But I only go out for a drink once every month or so or for special occassions. Drinking doesnt have the appeal to me it used to.

Just dont drink when you have flareups it makes it worse.  The doctor put me on 3 kinds of medicine a different one a month at a time.  One made me major sick.  Nothing worked much then I tried the cherrys do 6 a day for 4 days then 4 a day for a week, you should be much better by then do 2 a day to keep it under control.  You can also get cherrys at walmart but that gets very expensive its cheaper to buy the pills adkins sells them but its about $25.00 a bottle vs $13.00 on amazon.

I never got it in my feet I can only imagine how bad the pain is.  I had it in both thumbs & the pain was beyond control(the doctors kept me on hydrocodine it helped some).  Just trying to tie my boots before going to work was a chore.

I cant put on socks or walk when it flares up. Is been like 4 months since the last time, but no matter what I do it keeps coming back, so I'm gonna give the cherries a shot.
