It's over.  It's a sad feeling it isn't on anymore...but I guess I'll fill it with games, so it's a wash. 

I'm definitely happy with the ending.  I didn't realize television knew what a happy ending was anymore.

The ending was so sappy.  I can't believe they created universe B simply to make it feel like a happy ending, it was so pointless.  Nothing was explained, if anything it brought up several more questions.  At least the essentially wrapped up the storyline.

Overall, I'm glad I never cared too much about the show and am glad it's over.

Anyone else smell a Hurley and Ben spinoff

My wife and I tried to get into it at one point, but, we started a season or so late, and it just wasn't happening.

Maybe pick up the whole thing on DVD would be a good thing to do at some point.

People that don't like Lost fit into one of 3 catagories:

1. Those that never watched it or started watching it late and could never get up to speed or that just don't like the genre.

2. Those who are too stupid or have too short of an attention span to follow it. It isn't a show for the lazy.

3. Those misable people that think that everybody and everything is beneath them. Not sure why these people own TVs, because I'm sure nothing lives up to there inflated expectations.


That being said, I kept waiting to be let down, which is the norm for series finales, but never was. One other observation, this series and the Pacific on HBO rate as my top 2 TV shows to watch in HD...just outstanding.

I'm a category one, except you're wrong about not liking it. I probably would like it, I just didn't get to start at the beginning, so figured I would wait until the series was complete. I'm sure I'll watch it at some point.

I plan on watching The Pacific soon, seeing as how I consider Band of Brothers to be one of the greatest things EVER made.

Someone described it to me when the series started, I told them what I thought was really going on and he told me some blog had guessed the same thing, but the producers of the show said that's not what's going on.  I was intrigued and  planed on eventually renting the series.

On the radio this morning the DJ was explaining the end.

It sounded like what I(and more or less everyone else) had guessed.

I wonder which category I fall into.  I've watched since the beginning and can remember details from every season, so that takes me out of category 1 and 2.  I enjoy a lot of tv (I probably watch at least 10-15 tv seasons of various shows a year and enjoy 90% of them), which would seem to take me out of category 3.  Hmm, I dunno.  Maybe theres actually a fourth category of people who don't like lazy tv show writers.  Call me crazy, but isn't the point of a mystery show to actually solve a mystery?

By the way, I can't believe there are people who came away thinking the entire story from the beginning was them being already dead. Serious comprehension problems with these peeople. LOL

I agree.  They couldn't have been more explicit that everything on the island actually happened.  I loved the finale.  I was a little disappointed from the lack of explanations from a sci-fi perspective (honestly, they couldn't have possibly explained everything in a way that made complete sense so I'm glad they didn't even try) but I was completely satisfied with all of the main characters' story arcs.

Not when you're trying to leave a bunch of things open to viewer interpretation.  Smart people like figuring things out for themselves/creating their own explanations for some things.  Spelling everything out is kind of weak.

It also didn't seem possible, considering you have 6 seasons of things to try to explain.

SPOILER:
They seemed to have left out the story of Sun and Jin's kid in the last season, like they never even had one.  No one seemed sad that they left a kid behind.  That was really the only sad part of the ending.

They never said it for certain, but it seemed pretty clear to me.  Locke and company were bouncing around in time at one point and he was explaining to Richard that they were from the future.  To prove it he told him that he was going to be born on xx date in xx hospital or something to that effect.  He had left him an item (I want to say a lighter or something).  I believe it was one of the items that Richard placed before him as a youth expecting him to recognize and claim it as his.  It wasn't the item that he picked as the youth and therefore failed, but at that point he wouldn't have known it.

In the enhanced version of that episode, it says that the test he gives him is a ritual test performed in ancient tribes to test for reincarnation.  Locke had been jumping through time telling Richard all kinds of stuff and I think Richard was just trying to verify whether he was telling the truth and if he was who he said he was.  I'm unclear as to whether he passed the test or why Richard seemed mad afterward. 

Just watched the finale.  Loved, loved LOVED it!!!!  Don't listen to the haters.  This show was absolutely superb.  One thing most people don't always get is just how hard it is to write such a humongous ensemble story like that, and just because everything isn't completely obvious and it forces you to think, then it must suck.   The ending was poetic, and beautiful, and makes perfect sense to me. 

That being said, there was a shiteload of unexplained stuff from early seasons that does make it seem like they did a good deal of making it up as they went along.  Still, last few seasons were some of the best fantasy drama I've ever seen on television.  There will never be another show like this one.

There were definitely some things early on that were never explained. There were also some episodes that were complete filler. But the last 2 or 3 were really good. They had set a point for the conclusion and began working toward it. I'm not sure the jumping around in time made a lot of sense in the grand scheme of the story, but I enjoyed it, especially the time they lived in Dharmaville in the 70s.

BTW, Fringe really ramped it up in the second season. Check it out if you liked Lost, a very capable replacement.

So many compelling mysteries were presented early on that you keep hoping that they will be answered.  I believe it was half way into season 4 that they annouced that there would only be 6 seasons, which would keep everyone watching since they would expect things to start wrapping up fairly soon.  The show started out fantastic, so it makes sense to hope that the show will return to it's greatness as it's beginning to end.

I started writing a long paragraph explaining it in a lot more detail, but then I remembered I don't care that much.  In my opinion (and the opinion of everyone I know IRL that watched the show), Lost was a huge disappointment, but it doesn't really matter, so time to move on to the next show.  It made for some good watercooler discussion at work, so I have to give it credit for being an interesting topic to talk about.

What really irritates me is people saying they "wasted 6 years".  Sitting on your fat ass watching TV is not an "investment". If you enjoyed the "journey" and were entertained, then you can't retroactively complain about it.
