winkawas (neo geo) with front end?
« on: May 02, 2010, 05:59:38 am »
hey guys,

i've decided to change my neo geo emulation to winkawas.  i haven't added it yet to my FE, mamewah.

i noticed when running the stand alone, when quitting, you have to pause (hit enter) first, then alt+f4 to quit.

since i have everything set up with the standard "p1 start + p2 start = esc" to exit, i was wondering if anyone is using winkawas in their set up and how to get it to exit with "escape"?  are you using a launcher?  closemul maybe?

many thanks

p.s.  i decided to move to a stand alone neo geo emu instead of mame as i can easily set the machine type to "home" instead of "arcade".  is there a way to do so within mame?

If I remember correctly I don't think it's possible to use Closemul. At least the way I have it, I haven't figured it out yet.
Are you already launching games through Mamewah?

I have mine set up in GameEx, and I mapped a button on my joystick to send the ESC function to close the emu. Works like a charm.

i'm not familiar with GameEx but how do you get winkawaks to exit using just ESC?  the emu requires you to pause (enter) first, then hit ALT+F4

To be honest, I didn't really need to do any major configuration, it just worked. I know when I do press the "ESC" button, the emulator does show briefly that I need to pause the game before exiting the emulation, but the program closes anyway. I don't know if the front end just sends a signal to windows to kill the thread or what, but the short answer is that the FE is already configured to act this way for WinKawaks.
