Blatent use of Mame in commercial cab
« on: May 11, 2005, 06:00:15 pm »
see http://www.jsclassics.net

The "Voyager" cocktail cab in the pdf flyer http://www.jsclassics.net/jsclassicsmultiplay.pdf clearly states "

"The emulation software operating on these machines is MAME FREEWARE, you are not being charged for this. The Product sold comprises only of the hardware and the software on the menu system. At no point is MAME or any emulation software sold. It is installed on the machine free. We do not condone copyright theft."

ok just how are you going to play all those listed games without committing copyright rom theft?

worse thing is it is clearly intended for commercial use with the coin counting game audit screens.

Also, what is he really going to do about yet another fancy website that is a frontend to a part time "Business" that consists of one guy who built a cabinet, maybe two, and now thinks he can do it for a living.

Oh, and reading more carefully it is a fancy website that is a frontend to a "business" that consists of one guy who speaks in terms of "we". Don't say "we" when it is just you. Don't lie to me about your engineers. You do not have an engineering staff on hand to help with your CONVERSION of old UK style cabinets. Any idea how rediculous that sounds?
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Well, it might not be fooling *you*, but I imagine it fools a lot of people. Just like the idea that $19.99 is a really big savings compared to $20!!

I usually just imagine the "we" game is just reference to the proprietor + their business (which, if incorporated, actually *is* a separate entity). Anyhow, that makes it easier for me to stomach.

If it gets busy, "we" will hire part-time help. That's not "ridiculous" (with an i).
