Looks to have been left outside, probably been rained on, I would suggest going to actually look at it if close enough.

To me..... ain't worth $50.
The only things really left to it are a seat and coin door.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

Actually yeah, with some paint and clean unrusted bolts, that seat sould probably clean up nicely so long as it's not cracked.

Yeah, I may not know about cabs yet but honestly this looks like more trouble than anything else.  The only thing that catches my eye is the seat...

Well, if I were seriously considdering building a driving cabinate, I'd offer him something for the seat assuming it's not cracked.  The seat is weather proof and only the bolts are rusted.  If you're building a driving cab, a seat isn't something you can just 'make' afterall.  I think Sega's driving cabs almost all used the same seat mold as well, so you could paint it up in any style you want.

I'd steal the seat if it's still good and build around it.  A 360 driving cab rocking Forza would be amazing!  Attaching the steering wheel may be a challenge as most of the 360 types are meant for a table.  Do it!  :applaud:

Yup, that seat looks attractive.  $50 seems steep if the seat is junk though.  Weathered MDF = garbage.  Weathered plywood = maybe at least partially usable.  If you want a coin door, it should be usable (probably not the wiring though).  The thing is, the inside isn't painted as well and could be all rusty.  If it's close, check it out!  What the heck, if you tell him all the problems with it, he might just give it to you.

Actually doesn't look all that bad for being outside...

Go take a look... Pay close attention to the wood that has swelled up...  You might have to replace it...

But really... Looks like 50 bucks is a too much... But if your looking for a project... especially a build your own... good starting point...

On second look, it appears that this is at a storage locker type place.  Is it possible that the junk outside is all the lockers that were defaulted on?  If so, then the wood is probably in decent shape.

On the other hand, if it's just some shop with crap out back, then it could have rat nests in it...

Well I ended up skipping that cab and now I may get this FINAL LAP R cabinet from a guy..He said speakers are missing and he thinks the monitors are working and its probably missing the game board..It looks in good shape I saw it up close already but said ill decide later..The chairs need to be repainted and it kinda sucks they don't adjust but the rest of the art was clean..I was wondering if theres some way to hook up an xbox to the arcade monitors in there or use the steering wheel and pedals on the arcade in a xbox racing game? Thanks for you opinions/help

When I built my driving cabinet the most important thing to me when buying a racing seat was to make sure it could be adjusted between the legs so various sized players could adjust it to fit themselves accordingly.

Basically, I would recommend finding a seat which could be moved forwards/backwards

You can get the XBox to output VGA (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360vgahdcable/) which only helps if the arcade monitor can accept VGA inputs.  I doubt you would be able to hook it up easily without a monitor that accepts standard VGA.

The steering wheel on the XBox is a 270° wheel (meaning it's restricted and uses pots to determine the angle).  If the wheels on that cab also use a restricted wheel and pots then you should be able to hack an XBox wheel to use the existing hardware.  Search the forums to see if anyone has done it yet.  If so, you might already have a guide!

...Does he mean Xbox1 or Xbox 360?  Cause VGA for Xbox1 is a bigger pain in the ass.

yes its xbox 1..I really dont care about using the arcade monitors to much i can get tvs but it would be cool to use the existing steering wheel and pedals. So would that ultramark thing work?

well???

I recently went through the hassle of hooking up my original road blasters controllers to a PC.  I have no idea what's in the thing you're looking to do...is it optical?  Pots?

I interfaced a POT to my PC with an original Xbox (1) controller. If it's optical, you may be able to do a mouse hack to the xbox.  I've never done that though....

also...if you're using an Xbox, IMO it'd be way less of a headache to just use TVs.

Was hoking it up to the controller even worth it? Or should I just buy 2 xbox steering wheels and mount them?

The answer to both could be yes.

I recently saw a thread of a French guy, he took Daytona USA cabs and wired their controls into the PCBs from a pair of Xbox1 racing wheels.  It was a simple job and he mostly just had to connect the wires.

It could be important to use Xbox wheel PCBs instead of Gamepad PCBs, various games have special support for wheels and will specifically detect if a wheel is connected and change some options accordingly.

for me it was.  I MAME'd my Road Blasters cab because I didn't have the patience to fix the old atari stuff.  So I just tossed a PC in there.  I wanted it to still just be Road Blasters...so....interfacing the original controllers was way worth it.

Ya for me I mean I don't think the game even works and for me personally final lap isnt a cool enough game to spend my time and money fixing it..Part of me wants to mame it and race classic games but part of me wants to throw to xboxs on there in race system link games like outrun..Either way im not a good enough do it your self-er to hack the original arcade controls..But of I use 2 xbox steering wheels I dont want it to look dumb..Also does anyone know if a steering wheel work well with mame on the xbox? Sigh decision decisions..

Any program that doesn't SPECIALLY support the wheel on an Xbox1 will actually fallback to using the wheel as a giant gamepad.  You could use a wheel to play Xbox1 games like Marvel vs Capcom 2 or Pac-Man. :P

Well im just wondering how well the steering wheel feels on mame racing games on the xbox..Ok so whats pissing me off is there is hardly any system link racing games for the xbox.Is there even any real point and getting the 2 player racing cab because if most everything is split screen then obviously there wouldent be much versus action..Also does anyone know if a version of mame on the xbox supports system link? So two people can race on seperate screens? Thanks

Truthfully, I don't think you will have that many linked games to put on there.  The main ones for the arcade are much more modern 3D games that won't play that well.  I don't even know if MAME even supports linked play anyway.  As for other stuff...well, you might want to look into PC games and just network 2 computers together.  The only other option is to use a pair of XBox's or PS2's and link them together.  It won't be as clean with switching games, but it will work.

That style of cab is cool, but you probably won't be happy with the number of games available to support the dual setup.  That's just my opinion though.   :dunno

Forgive my ignorance but it's been a while since I checked.  Doesn't MAME itself, even on the PC, not support emulating the link on games yet?

rad racer was made in the arcade it was segas first 32 bit arcade game and it also was the first game to have a cameo of sonic on it..He was a air freshener hanging off the rear view mirror..It looks cool but it has a huge bulky metal base and if the game doesnt run then the hydraulics are useless..

Rad Racer was made by SquareSoft for Nintendo and was only on the NES.

In checking a list of Sonic cameos, it looks like you're confused with Rad Mobile, which would be an easy mistake to make.

Rad Racer was also in the Nintendo Playchoice cabinets, but those were just NES systems with a per-credit timer and a complete waste of time and money.  The actual game rom is bit-for-bit identical to the NES version.

Sega did Rad Mobile and Rad Rally, as you say.

I don't doubt you as I see it in the PlayChoice list, but I have to ask... How did people play that?  To my knowledge there were no PlayChoice cabs with a wheel.  Did you play with a joystick? o_o

Well, I'd probably get the 1 player cab since there aren't that many games that need 2 displays and 2 steering wheels...especially ones that you can play.  I don't know anything about the price, but if the seat, wheel, and monitor work then it's probably a good deal.  It's even better if you can strip the guts and sell them off.
