Mostly finished project
« on: December 12, 2009, 08:09:07 pm »
Inspired by a recent thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=97459.0), I thought I would go ahead and snap some pictures of my mostly done jukebox project.

A year ago I found a non-working Philco on Craigslist.  It looked like this:

And now, while I wouldn't call it finished yet, it looks like this:

The PC is a 733Mhz running Windows 2000.  I mounted it on a board and then mounted the board inside the casing.  Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX computer speakers that really sound pretty good. Touchscreen works well.  I framed it out with some black foam core board.  I installed a virtual keyboard that I can pop up to type on directly on the touchscreen.  I used burlap to replace the speaker cloth.  It's running an old version of freebox that I hope to upgrade when I get around to finishing it.  I usually just use it to stream Pandora, though.

I still need to see what I can do about cleaning up the finish and nicks in the casing.  Would like to update the software and also want to find some sort of small pneumatic hinge to allow the lid to close softly.
