Hey Everyone,

For the past few days I was thinking about building a Touchscreen Jukebox. I wanted to go more with an antique old style kind of look……of course except the LCD 

I’m driving home yesterday and what do I see? EXACTLY what is was that I was looking for. RIGHT DOWN THE BLOCK FROM MY HOUSE WITH A SIGN ON IT THAT SAID FREE!!!!

As you can figure I loaded it in the truck and took off. When I got home it looks like it was a very old radio that had settings like Police, North America , South America……You have an idea how old it is now

The Possibilities :-) any sugestions......:-)

That's a Philco model 41-290 from the year 1941. This radio is very collectible and there's tons of reproduction parts available for it.

Just imagine.....this unit used to be the MASTERPIECE of someones living room.  The family most likely would congregate around in to listen to the news or to listen to their local sports game, or to hear a murder/mystery show.  Very kewl find!!

I really hope it's not finished wood, or, if it is, that it's so badly damaged, you're having to bondo the hell out of it.

Sorry, I just hate painting furniture grade wood. I guess it's a thing I have

damn that'd be sweet. I can't imagine painting that if it's in even remotely decent condition.

What you need to do is take the radio dial out, leave the hole and mount a touchscreen flush behind it. Then put a background image of the old dial on the screen.

Yea!! thats it...one of the spindles is broken, the second one from the left at the very bottom...Radio is allready missing..I have 2 of the original dials though...I was going to try and fit a 15" lcd touch screen. What would you suggest for a screen? Hole is 3 3/8H X 6 5/8W.

It was fun to make. Just have a few  more small things to do then all done. I was able to find another Radio. Everything was stripped out of it. Looks like it was a General Electric.

You've motivated me to re-think mine. I was going to build one and have the push button controls, but that is such a nice piece of furniture and the price on the touch-screens has become so reasonable that I've been re-designing since I read your build.

Can you post some more pictures? How tall and wide is the finished Juke and what is the size of the opening "case", from the back?
What did you use for the "Hacked volume control"?

I have the PC already built (case-less) with Klipsch 3.1 speakers. I think the Sub will fit in the cab, with the mobo, PSU and other speakers, just want to confirm it will all fit. (I think so, but don't want to assume).

If you were to build another one, what would you do differently?

Can ask how you mounted the screen? as far as the cut and what not......maybe photo of the back side might help...I ask cuz I just got one like this and am wanting to do the same thing
