  • I'm a llama!
Okay.  I am making my own layout with games videos, etc. and it worked great on the computer I created it on.  However, when I transferred the complete setup (directory and files) to the actual hard drive of the computer I'm going to be running this on, and attempt to run my layout, the videos do not show up.

I have read several threads on this, but they don't appear to be the same problem I'm having.

Does the layout have a video window?  Yes
Is video on the top of the stack (bring to front)?  Yes
Videos have same filename as ROM?  Yes
Is Xvid 1.2.2 installed?  Was installed but didn't fix it, so I tried installing http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/, still no luck.
Do videos run in Windows Media Player?  Yes

I'm totally confused, because it works  no problem on the one computer, but not the one I'm running in my cocktail cab.
In both computers it is the C: drive, and the paths are the same.  The computer it works on, is running Windows XP Professional With Service Pack 3.
The computer that I'm trying to run this on in my Cocktail cabinet is running Windows 2000.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue may be??

its usually the codec
uninstall all codecs including divx and then only install xvid

Yup, definitely a codec issue.

I tried uninstalling all of the codecs and re-installing XviD-1.2.2-07062009, but the videos still did not work in Mala on my computer running windows 2000.

I tried installing XP on a different HD in that computer and installed the XVID, and it is working now, so I'm not going to worry about getting it to work under Windows 2000.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't work under windows 2000.

    • Gelide FrontEnd for Linux
I have the same issue in a MicroXP.
I think it could be a missing dll.

I was going to make a comment about it was nice to see dung beetle around again, but i realized its a resurrected thread.
Tapule: I too had the same issue.. like all these people are saying its almost always a codec issue.
I had to use a tool like codec sniper to remove all the video codecs and install only ffdshow. i don't know why but it was the only way i ever got it working... any other versions of the xvid codec i installed would never work for me.
