Thanks guys

It's difficult to sum up just how much satisfaction this restoration has given me.
From playing Pac Man in the early 80's, then for nearly 25 years, not playing and to return to gaming and beat my 1983 record live at Funspot XI is a dream come true.
I'm using my cab for practice and then attending Funspot when I can to challenge my U.K record.

When I saw this cab in London, it was sat in a dark corner and was covered in rubbish. It was a little sad for me and I made the decision there and then to bring it back to life. I fully intended to do the business, to the very best of my ability and I studied the internet for ideas and did my research before starting.
I hope I have done this fantastic game the credit it deserves and gave it my best.

It has had it's ups & downs of course, but it's been worth every minute. The help and support you guys have given has indeed encouraged my efforts.
I will post some high resolution images and some video footage of the cab in the very near future.  ;)

I think its pretty cool how you have come full circle with this game..at the risk of sounding epic (aka uber geeky) it was almost like you were destined to restore this cab... ;)

Fantastic job!

Many thanks.

I'm going to a Classic Retro meeting next week in Huddersfield, so I'll get some shots of the cab in an 'Arcade' enviroment. I bet the cab never thought it would find it's way back 'home' again.

Thats pretty sweet!

Just out of curiosity, did you re-try your old monitor after fixing the wiring problem just to see if it works?

That's a great point  ;)
Well not yet. Purely because the replacement Wells Gardner one has been completely installed and although I know there's not that much involved to try the original Electrohome one out, it'll be a little bit inconvenient right now.
I have a feeling though that it may be OK though ...... now that would be sweet. Watch this space, I'll let you know  :)

I took the cab straight from the shed, where it's been since it arrived, to an event in Huddersfield, England called Retro Reunited. To see the guys playing it amongst the few other cabs there was really sweet.  ;D
It was very popular and you can see it being played in this link to the show (the cab is after 3min 20sec) -

Here's some pictures of the cab when I got it home and FINALLY got it in it's new home, the lounge.

Anyone know where I can get a Midway identification plate for the rear of the cab ?
It was missing when I bought it.

Cheers

ThisOldGame had them but they are out of stock.  I'm not aware of anyone else having them.  I looked and couldn't find one.

You sir, have just been rewarded the first official RESTOREY.

The RESTOREY is awarded to people who have done a restoration that:

a) is beyond doubt and discussion extremely beautifully done
b) is well documented on this forum
c) is finished

Regretfully, there is no prize attached to it (yet?) other than "Eternal Fame".

Congratulations !

Yeah, well you know how this goes, commissions, meetings, management approval. But it's all done now. And the entire committee (me) decided he deserved it.

I think you Spyridon deserve a couple of RESTOREY's....let's see if I can find the threads....

It was a joy to do this restoration, even the annoying glitches were worth it as I learnt a great deal.  :)

Hi guys,

The cab has been absolutely perfect since the restore, even my 2 Brother-in-laws had a blast over the New Year and was really great to see  :lol

Just one issue, that's the 5 wedge lamps behind the marque. It was suggested to me that 5w pinball lamps would be sufficient, but I knew the voltage was too low. Anyway, I tried them, but 1 by 1 they blew and now I have to purchase the correct ones.
Anyone know somewhere to buy the correct ones ?

Cheers
Jon.
