Ok whats up guys i've been lurking around this site for almost 2 months, i love this place! Anyways im making my own cab and i have a few questions: i hacked a keyboard and a gamepad and i was wondering if i could plug them both at the same time in mame? Also, is t-molding really necessary? Hope you can help out a newbie.... :)

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Pretty much, unless you like rough edges. It also looks nicer.

yes you can use the keyboard and game pad at the same time.

yes tmolding is important it protects the edges of the wood which is the most volunerable to splitting.

t molding makes all the difference.  i held off on the tmolding for a while on my cab, and i couldn't believe the differnece in the way it looked once i installed it.  you should be able to get enough tmolding for under $20

Is T-molding *required*?

No, but it won't look finished without it.  There are some examples of cabinets that are made out of hard wood (or at least higher quality, finish plywood) with veneer on the edges.  Those look good, but they are more of a piece of furniture than a cabinet IMO.  Just install some and you'll be happier with the final product!
