Coin Return as 'Insert Coin' Stumper
« on: September 19, 2009, 09:39:37 pm »
I've got a TMNT 4P JAMMA cab
(http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=95439.0)

...and I've successfully attached cherryswitches to the guts of the coin door and can trigger 'coin' with the coin return button but I lose the functionality of the original coin mech! I just daisy chained the ground from the original switch to my new one and the NO from the orig switch to the new. I dunno why it works with NO instead of NC but it does. I take it my wirings not 'parallel?' Anyhow soon as I unhitch the new switch the old ones functions return.

Basically I want both the coin mech and the coin return buttons to trigger 'coin' but I can only figure out either-or.

Im not sure I understand how you have your switches connected, but I think you need to connect them in parallel.
Sounds like you might have then connected in series.
Here is a drawing that shows them connected both ways.
this is only for one coin slot, you need to duplicate it for the other coin slots.

See if this looks familiar, if you dont have them parallel, try it.

Edit: Also double check the NO contact on the coin switch and your reject button switch.
The contact positions are backwards on my coin switches, from my push button switches. look on the switches' bodies for the NO mark. Make sure you are connecting to NO on both.

NICE! I can't believe I didn't stumble upon that. I feel like I tried every combination...

When I first saw your diagram I was worried because I thought I did have them connected properly... until I noticed that my orig coin switches-- like yours-- are flipped NC and NO

Anyhow, thanks for the quick response. Now my Saturday hasnt been wasted.
