Raiden Fighters Question

Most likely a silly question, but how do you get the Raiden Fighter games / ROM's to work? When I open the file / start the game theres a count down timer (starting @ 999). Once the timer runs down, nothing happens?
What am I doing wrong?

After countdown ends, try pressing F3. (when countdown ends, a screen should have displayed saying something about resetting the game, which is F3). I think this only needs to be done once and won't encounter the countdown again.

Also, if you have a fast computer don't forget to disable throttling during the countdown so it finishes much, much faster

Man, I was wondering what good those games were if you had to wait 999 seconds each time. I think I filtered them out in my FE cause I didn't know how to get them to work.

Better put 'em back on the list and try them out! IMO - raiden and raiden fighters are 2 of the most fun shoot-em-ups!!
