EmuMovies in Mala on Rotating Monitor.
« on: June 04, 2009, 05:19:17 pm »
I have put emumovies on my rotating monitor cab that has a horizontal and vertical layout. Emumovies works great in the horizontal layout but when my monitor turns vertical and the mala menu turns vertical too the video is sideways.

Is there a way I can turn the video 90 degrees counterclockwise in the layout ?

I am running Mala 1.62g and the v549e  layout by shock.

I am using mala 1.62G, but Im not using the layout you are.
My videos look good horizontal and vertical, plus I tried rotating screen in the opposite direction and they look good, so I dont know what to tell you.
What video codec are you using?

Hey DaOld Man,

I am using the XviD-1.2.1-04122008 codec, maybee I'm not using a setting in mala to rotate the video when vertical. The video is quality is great but it's just sideways in the vertical menu with monitor vertical.

Does your video turn when your monitor turns vertical ?And what layout are you using on your rotating monitor cab?

BTW startcom is working great!

Im glad startcom is working for you, do you think its ready for malafe.net?

! wasn't getting vertical layouts to rotate on my work machine.  See here:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=90230.msg965005#msg965005

I just wrote it off on the Quadro and never paid no more mind.

<edit> I was not using any plugins.  This was a standard layout with standard settings.

Thanks for the input guys, I think I will try a different video card and if that doesn't do it I will check the services to see if that is it because I disabled some of them to speed up the computer. I'll post updates on any progress.

DaOld Man, Yes I think startcom is ready for malafe.net.

Well I tried swapping out my Nvidia video card with an ATI but no luck. I would hate to reinstall windows xp and possibly still have the problem. Could it be the size of the video's ? The size of the video's I have are HQ ones 640x480 and LQ ones are 320x240, It think it's something something simple like a setting or the videos I have.

I am up for any suggestions.

Are you running twinview or any other driver-app-specific settings?

Thats really all I can think of.  I didn't resolve the issue with my Quadro, but nothing else is really different (from home) other than the video and a huge amount of RAM.

Oh, and hyperthreading.  I have dual-dual-core Intels at work (with the Quadro) hyperthreaded.  At home I have a Athlon dual-core non-hyperthreaded with the GTS8800.

Thanks for the responce system01.

I think I will install mala and mame on my desktop and see if it works and if so I will have to check on the differences until I get the emumovie video's to turn when the monitor turns vertical like the snaps do.Maybee it's the xvid codec I'm using? did you use the same xvid codec on both of your computers?

Everything was the same.  I was using the same version of the CCCP codec pack, which always includes the lasted xVid.  Same XP Pro with the same SPs and updates, same admin rights, etc.  As far as video-playing apps: WMP, Media Player Classic, and Nero are on both machines.  I actually ran Mala/MAME from a WD portable lappy drive on both machines.  The only real difference was hardware, and since I don't really suspect hyperthreading, I assumed it was the video.  The Quadro's are nice for solid modeling and all, but kinda weird with game-type-stuff.  I'm also using the nVidia software on the Quadro, and I let windows handle the settings on the 8800.

Since I don't play MAME at work, I just gave it a quick "eh, I'ts not playing right" and moved on.  And because it is at work, I can't really spend half a day playing with drivers and codecs and such.  At least not lately. ;)

BTW, these are with Circo's HQ vids.

I actually got it working now, After rolling Mala back to 1.05 it worked, then I realized Mala 1.62 is using a different video engine "TVideograbber" so I put 1.62 back in and installed the CCCP codec add walla it works!

I am now upgrading the computer from a Petium 3 933 MHz to a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz I have.
Hopefully I won't have any problems with the Pentium 4 software setup.
