Smoked Glass UK Help
« on: April 17, 2009, 12:16:43 pm »
Driving myself up the wall with this and can only really find places selling slightly grey.

Can anyone help with a supplier that they have used, and have been happy with, that sells dark smoked glass?  Have seen some of the cabs on here that are blackout until the screen is on which is what I want for mine, only everyone is from the States

I'm based in the South East, just outside of London

Wahey! Another Brit! :P

Try  Walsh Glazing, I use them from time to time for glass, I am sure they would help you out!

Where abouts are you from?

Thanks for the link, I've just sent them an email for a quote. The places I've asked just say "well it's quite light" which is just not what I want to hear :(    Have you used them for your machines? Just wondering if there is a standard % of dark I need to be looking at as I've seen Graylight mentioned on here before but, can't find an equivalent to ask for over here.

Yeah I think we're thin on the ground on here. I'm in Surrey, not far from Gatwick.

I've seen a thread a while back with your arcade, great artwork btw.

I have used them for glass, not specifically for machines though. They are usually very helpful though!

Ahh, cheers mate! I have always liked artwork.

So you must be near Redhill, Godstone, Crawley, etc? I am always down those ends as a lot of my family lives in Surrey.

Cool, hopefully it will end my search :)

I'm actually in between Redhill and Godstone, based  in Nutfield.

Any clues for a company up north west - way that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for tinted glass?

You just have to keep looking for decent glass prices. I found one company round the corner from another that was double the price (and double the attitude!). The problem is that glass is going up every 6 months or so as factories shut down.

On the original topic, all the places I've been to will do both grey and smoked... so keep looking, there will be something about.

My local glaziers only do two types, grey smoke and bronze smoke. Think they said its 30% tint. First time I bought it (grey) I thought it was fairly light, but once I placed it on top of my cocktail table it looked the business.

Haha Now that would be funny. I'm on the high street..well I say high street although the one shop we had, and even then it was a design shop, closed a few months back.

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind and looks fine on yours. Few places I've spoken to have been a bit off, kind of like you're wasting their time.  :dunno
