that is done on a per game basis.  that is vs super mario...  if you hit tab, go to video options, and select Coctail, it will display that way.

I'll be damned. I never tried that. So if you have dual monitors like a .vs setup would you run 2 vid cards or how do you do that?

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

It's single monitor. It's a workaround for games that don't have cocktail flipping.

in your mame.ini file, there is a setting for the number of monitors.  just set it to 2 and it will display the same thing on both screens for most games..or if the original game had more than one monitor, it will span or do whatever it was supposed to. (for instance if it is set to 2, if you play xmen, it spans the screen across both)

Mame has a special layout for doing this.  You can change it in the mame.ini (or game specific ini files), or from the in game video options menu.

For mame.ini:
view                      cocktail

For in game:
Press tab, select Video Options, select Cocktail.

It's been in mame for a while, soon after the 0.106-0.107 video changes (which made it possible).

I figured that out late last nite. I haven't used anything newer than v.75. Guess it's time to update.  :P Glad to see that it has an option to remap the esc key too. Very nice.
