Can someone help me figure out the pins on this 10-pin header? I've made a vga breakout cable and I want to make sure I wire it to the board correctly.

Are there any markings on the side that we can't see?
On one side it says CN3 VIDEO IN, does it have anything on the other side.

If we could see the trace side of the pcb it would be easy.
I don't know why they draw schematics like that for the connections.

no, there are no other markings. I did find an online photo of another board that does seem to have markings but I can't quite make them out.

I'll look into removing the board but I am pretty sure I may get zapped and die.

The monitor came from a Neo Geo cab.

the 5th and 6th pins (from the top, down) look like they might be marked V and H...can someone with good vision check this picture out for me?

That does look like a V and H to me as well.

If you use a meter you can find the ground pins very easily.

And I would assume it may be setup quite similar to other monitors in order to make it a bit universal. (without further information to go on)
So I would guess that Red, Green, Blue and a Ground would start from the pin to the right hand side in your first pic. Then the composite sync line would go to one of the remaining pins.

The RED, GREEN and BLUE pins should lead over towards those three transistors to the left of the connector if looking at your first pic.
There should be two ground pins to choose from. (you should only need to use one)
And then it looks like there's a choice of two pins to connect the composite sync to.
And two pins would be for separate H and V sync.
One pin may just be a KEY pin and actually doesn't go to anything.

This all just kinda guessing without being able to put my hands on it personally to look at the trace side of the pcb.

I'll just need to hook up 6 wires, correct?

V H Ground B G R
6 5 4         3 2 1

I'm waiting for my isolation transformer to show up, then I'll try out the wiring.

Well I seem to have been waaaay off. Can someone explain this picture? Why are there only 5 wires? are H and V connected to the same pin? Which is ground?

Thanks to The Hammer for the picture!

Red, Green, Blue .......... Ground ... Composite Sync
  1       2         3                  8                 10

If you running from a VGA breakout cable from like a MAME setup or something then yes, you have to tie the V Sync and H Sync together to form "Composite Sync".
Literally.... just put the two wires together on the one pin. (10)

I think this monitor follows the same pinout as a Wells-Gardner k7000 series.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking especially after seeing the other one wired up.
Figured it was a common configuration.

Always glad to get the second opinion for sure.
