Joystick Input Problems: Sensitivity?
« on: November 22, 2008, 02:19:58 pm »
I guess my overall question is:  How many ways are there to tweak how sensitive a joystick is in having MAME & other emus register inputs, ESPECIALLY complex movements such as desperation moves in fighters?

My main beef - I cannot get Art of Fighting 2 to properly register a qcf, hcf+C desperation, I hit it maybe 1 in 10.  I've been playing this game a LONG time on the original hardware & never had this problem.

Also, on my cab, I have NO problem pulling this in any other Neo fighter.

I have noticed a solid dragon punch motion in fighters requires a slight tap forward before executing f,d,df

Any pointers?

Thanks

Not really into fighter games to understand the type of movements you're trying to pull off, but since they're just on/off microswitches, there really isn't much to tweak except for the sticks themselves. Perhaps try to find the kind of stick that used in the game you like most.

Sounds like the problem is with your joystick. Which one did you buy? I suggest the Sanwa sticks at Lizardlick.com for fighting games.

Also if you want better response it might be the microswitches. Click on my signature below. I wrote a lenghty step by step walthrough on how to make microswitches more responsive.
