I ordered the MagStick Plus from Ultimarc. They have gotten great reviews as a stick for fighting fans, as well as fans of other genres. I haven't received them yet, so I can't give  a hands on impression, but it might give you something to go on.

Seems about once a month this topic comes up, I think with the same title so you'll likely find a lot in an easy search.

I dunno I seem to hear alot of people say these sticks work great in 4way mode, but are lacking in 8way mode which is what you would be using for fighters/.

People seem to like the U360s with the long shaft, stiff spring and resrictor plate. DIRTY!  :censored:

resrictor plate. DIRTY!  :censored:

Hey!  The restrictor plate is a perfectly cromulent marital aid.

As only a casual player of the fighting games, the U360's have served me well.  You may want to add an octagon restrictor with that if you go that route.

Perfect360.

The U360 even with the heavier spring is too soft, too short and all around wimpy when it comes to fighters. However, great all around stick if you are trying to keep the number of sticks to a minimum.

I use the Sanwa's for fighters as they are used in most Japanese fighting cabs.

Highly recommend them over the Happs, purley for the fact they seem easier to use for special moves etc. The "sweet spot" just seems easier to find.

For me any stick will work fine as long as I can feel the corners.  A sanwa jlf with an octagonal restrictor is my fav for capcom and snk fighters.  Competitions or similar are the only sticks I will play Mortal Kombats with though.

Find a stick that is comfortable for you.

I bought the magstik plus sticks and like them vey much when i had them installed in my desktop control panel. This changed dramatically when i decided to swap out the worn sticks in my ki2 cab.

For ki1+2 and any of the mortal kombats they simply dont work. The combos and special moves are almost impossible to pull off as you always hit a corner when you dont want to.

I then made a hybrid stick combo with the original ki sticks and the mag stick base. It made the sticks sit a little higher, but was a lot easier to pull off combos and specials as the extra length made it easier for me to hit the corners. Sadly, i got frustrated with the slightly sloppy feel my hybrid combo gave me, and opted for the original happ competitions instead.

JLF is the only one that supports the 8 way octagonal restrictor. I have a JLW and it comes with a built in 8 way that can be switched to a 4 way restrictor. It works but I preffer the octogonal for fighting games.

Japanese Sanwa JLF or Seimitsu LS series are considered the golden standard in the fighting game community.  Also IL Competition and Happ/Wico Perfect 360 are the top "american" style sticks and are preferred for a few games. 99% of competitive fighting gamers use one of those models.

What fighting game do you want to play on your cab the most?

I have two happ comps in my panel and while I think they play OK for fighting games my future brother-in-law, who is a MK3 nut, has a tough time getting used to them.  It is hard for him to pull off the "finish him" moves.  He is pretty damn good at that game too so I dont think its his inability to hit the right sequence.  FWIW.

If you like SFII better, go with a Sanwa JLF or Seimitus LS.

IF you like Marvel better, go with a Comp or Perfect 360.

But any way you go those sticks are all great for fighting games.

its all about persona preference.....

this thread has been done to death but only advice I can give you is that AVOID p360s for any game alltogether. they are quite retarded for fighting games because corners are all messed up and its so stiff  I cant even play on it for more than 10 minutes.

personally I use seimitsu ls32 because its a mix of jap and american. its not TOO sensitive/lose like sanwa and yet its better than any american sticks. I can pretty much do any and all critical combos combos in capcom vs snk 2(things like 1 frame links to supers and custom combos). Ive used many many sticks over the years and seimitsu is the best one for all fighting games imo. and use sanwa buttons. there is  no reason to be using any other buttons. sanwa buttons > ALL other buttons.
