Let's see if I can recall how I put that 1" grid up ...
In PaintShop pro I would straighten the cabinet picture, then crop the cabinet picture tightly, then resize the cabinet picture so it is actual height (inches is an option in the resize menu) I got the actual cabinet height from the flyer.
Then I'd put a grid up that equals 1" squares - the grid is an overlay, it's not imbedded in the image. To do this I check the image properties, if it's 72 pixels per inch I set the grid properties to be 72 pixels in height and width, that means 1" squares.
Then I'd crank my screen resolution so it's maxed, like 3000x2000 or some madness, then I'd take a screenshot of the giant image with 1" squares over it using the "print screen" button on the keyboard. Then I'd drop back to normal resolution and paste the screen shot, and crop it, then call it a plan

It's easier done than said
It can turn a photo into a quick and dirty cabinet plan
