Control buttons question
« on: August 31, 2008, 08:43:55 pm »
Hi guys im in the final stages of the construction of my control panel and have a few questions regarding some buttons I have found on the internet.

Here is a link to the site: http://www.happcontrols.com/pushbuttons/5400045x.htm

My question is this can i use this button it looks like it has a standard cherry switch style connector and if this button can be used how would I illuminate it?

Many thanks

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

The white part that's holding the microswitch is also an LED holder. It uses a T3-1/4" wedge style.

Depends on the led you are using.

Normally a 5v led (with the correct resistor) you can power using the led wiz or the red 5v wire from your PSU , but a 12v led you would need to use the power from a molex connector (splicing it if you do not have large amounts of molex connectors, like myself).

Easiest just to hack a USB cable.

12v will do it. Just use a molex connector from the computer PSU and cut off the end. Use the yellow wire (12v) and either black wire (ground).
