Dell Optiplex GX260 MB (Problem solved)
« on: August 23, 2008, 08:59:22 am »
Im not sure if this is the right forum, but I have a couple of questions I thought someone may be able to answer.

I bought a Dell Optiplex GX260 motherboard off ebay.
It didnt come with a power supply or a front button panel.
I hooked an ATX power supply from a Compaq computer, but I cant get the GX260 to fire up.
The yellow light on the mother board comes on.
Im not sure which pins on the motherboard go to the power on button, but from the very sparse info I can find, it looks like pins 19 and 20.
I tried touching these pins and nothing happens.
Now my questions:
Am I touching the right pins?
Is the Compaq power supply compatible, or will I need to get a dell power supply, or will a regular cheap ATX supply work?

I tried it again today and it worked.
Not sure why it wouldnt work last night, but when I touch pin 19 to pin 20 it comes on.
