exiting games?

Greetings everyone.
My project is almost done but I have run into one big problem. I can not exit a game and return to mala without the keyboard. I am running mame32 through MALA and am using 4 ultramarc 360 joysticks. In Mala I have the exit control set to button 12 and have checked to make sure the button works. However, when I try it in a game nothing happens and I have to exit using the keyboard. Someone suggested that the problem was in mame but I have not been able to find a way to change how I exit games in mame 32. Any advice would be great. Thanks everyone!

You need to set it in MAME (or whatever other emus you use through MALA).

While in MAME, hit TAB, then set EXIT to button 12. Go to the proper control setup for each emu and set button 12 as exit.

Tab, select "Input (general)", select "User Interface", and change "UI_Cancel" to your button 12 (and esc or any other button, if you want).
