CRT problem...
« on: May 11, 2008, 12:45:32 am »

Well I found this amazing Crt monitor at a garage sale, It was the perfect size for my arcade. I got it for about 15 bucks...fast forward to about a month later when I practice mounting for the arcade. I come to find out that the monitor is broken.
Problem=Whenever I turn it on the light turns green but then shuts off and starts blinking... I never see any picture... What could be wrong?

I don't know if it would be worth mentioning but this CRT is attached to a dremacast VGA box Yes I made sure everything was attached to the Dreamcast and the power was on.

Have you tried hooking the CRT into another source like a PC?

Your dremacast VGA adapter could be at fault.

How you describe the CRT operation, it looks like no signal is being sent to the CRT.

Then your problem lies either with your Dreamcast or your VGA box.

I know nothing at all about the dreamcast, so i am afraid to show my stupidity by opening my mouth, but I have seen on a PC that if the PC's video card is set to a resolution that the monitor cant handle, the monitor will act like that.
Can you change the resolution settings on the dreamcast?

No.

Try setting the computer to the same resolution as the dreamcast uses.  (isn't it just 640x480@60hz, though?)  If the PC works at the same res, it's definitely not the monitor.
