Can someone help me?
« on: April 25, 2008, 07:57:47 am »
Hi,

I was wondering if someone could draw up these plans for me in CAD? I am really bad at using this program and have attempted (horribly I might add).

I would really appreciate any help on this!!!

Thanks.

Have you tried Google's Sketchup?
Its  a free 3D cad program that I found pretty easy to use provided you do the following:

1) Build the Outline of your MDF or Plywood Pieces,
2) Use the Push/Pull tool to make that outline 3-dimensional to 3/4 inch or whatever
3) Select the entire 3 Dimensional object and turn it into a "component"- this will make it so other things you draw can't interact with that "part" (you can doubleclick on a "component" to edit it independantly of the other parts
4) Repeat for each part and then "assemble" them...

Of course, I built my entire cabinet from a "plan" that looks a lot like yours there, so I don't know you NEED a CAD drawing, but I admit it probably would have been helpful to have one ....

I did mine on graph paper.  Took Lucid's original design and made it bigger.

The title should be can someone do it for me. Your not asking for help and instruction.

That was obvious in his post, but once he got some answers, he said he'd try on his own.
Be cool.

One of the most frustrating things is, if you're copying an existing cab, don't be surprised if the numbers don't add up.  Look at the numbers, the part under the marque is probably more than the 15mm written on the pdf.  Maybe a bad scan and should read 75mm?

Anyway, the angles I measure with the tools I have are usually in the +/- range of 5 degrees, if good, and +/- or 10 if "close".

Other than that, good luck, and if you need any help with sketchup, we can help.
