Can't use my controls with MALA -- figured it out
« on: April 19, 2008, 01:53:03 pm »
I downloaded MaLa last night and started playing around with it to see if I could get it to work with two monitors.  Well, I've just about got that figured out, but I'm having other problems.

I've got a cab with a HotRod SE and not only can I not control MaLa with it, if I use the keyboard to press "OK" and finally get into the game, the game no longer recognizes most of my control inputs (the exception are a couple of buttons).  If I launch the same game through MAME32 (v1.04), everything is fine.  I hooked up an X-arcade and I'm getting the same problem.

Anyone know what could be the problem?  Is it because I'm using MAME32 and not a command line version of MAME even though everything else seems to work fine with it?

Thanks!

Figured it out -- was pretty simple...

MaLa was looking for mame.ini but Mame32 uses the file mame32.ini.

Just copied the mame32 file, renamed it mame.ini, and everything works fine now.

Most here would discourage you using mame32 with a FE.

Occasionaly you can strike issues.

I guess I'll go hunt down the command line version of 1.04 then.

Thanks for the advice
