Mamemarquees.com Ultimate marquee option:Please explain
« on: April 11, 2008, 08:41:28 pm »
Their explaination is quite fuzzy. "The new ULTIMATE Marquee is for people who want it all! They are printed on the same type of backlight material that you would find on today’s arcades and then laminated with a luster laminate for a great finish."

Now I dont mind spending the $10 for a better quality print. But can someone who has seen them help explain the difference?

What exactly does having it laminated do?

As it is covered with plexiglass I don't think that Laminate would change the way it looks. Or is the idea if you have it laminated you don't put plexi over the top? Maybe just a diffuser behind it is enough to make it stiff?

Laminate with, I believe, UV protection to keep it from fading, and to protect it from being as easily damaged.

You still want to put plexiglass over it. It's just high quality photo paper.

I have both styles.  Get the ultimate.  Standard = high quality photo paper essentially.  Ultimate = much more rugged,  much more durable...like the material used in CPO's.

It is totally different materials: the standard is a high quality photo paper that backlits well.  and the Ultimate is a backlit film that is front printed and then overlaminated to protect the front, gives it the same mylar feel and it also makes it stiffer.

Thanks for coming in and straightening things out, Scott. Perhaps a rewording on the site is in order? This question tends to come up a lot.
