International Shipping

Have any of you used international shipping from the US to another country before?  How long did it take for the package to arrive? 

I ordered something from the US and it was sent with USPS on the 18th of March to South Africa.  The last details I can get from the tracking on their website is that it left the US on the 21st.  The delivery time for priority mail for international is 6 - 10 business days, which has now passed.  I emailed them and they said that if I haven't received it in that time, that the sender should then contact USPS to follow up. 

I'm not really getting very good feedback from the sender.  He keeps saying that it's going to take about 30 days and there's nothing I can do about it.  If I paid for priority mail (6-10 days), then surely that's what I should get?  And not 30+ days? 

I ordered stuff from Ultimarc as well and received those in 3 days.

The 6-10 days is a really rough estimate. I gave up on getting things shipped from the US to the UK. Shipping is ridiculously expensive and gets lost 50% of the time! I wouldn't mind but I get things shipped from Hong Kong in 4 days! I suppose it really comes down to what company your dealing with. For instance if your buying from GGG or Ultimarc the feedback on the boards should let you know they'll be no problem and they'll bend over backwards to help. Of course if your buying from "Dodgy Jim" on ebay you take your chances. My £0.02

Things can take ages, even with priority shipping. I bought a load of stuff from GGG and it was posted prority. It took about 3 weeks to come through (through no fault of Randys I would like to add).

Items can also be held in customs for a while and then held again at the delivery depo. I ended up tracking mine down and picking it up from the depo before parcel farce sent me a letter saying I had a parcel to pick up. They wouldn't deliver it as I had customs charges to pay on it, go figure

Yeah, it really depends on who you are buying it from! I know for a fact Ultimarc are very good. My stuff arrived within 6 days from them! (I live in UK).

Generally things should be fine, but I hear about stuff being "lost". If it is not a very high value item I say get it!!!

Hello, I shipped the order to you on 03/18/08, & sent you tracking, the tracking shows the package leaving the country on the 21st heading for south Africa.  I stated from my experience usps priority mail takes up to 20 business days if the order is not held in customs, if the order is held I have no control over that.  Sorry if you feel your not getting very good feedback but with the tracking number you get the same info I get.  I called usps yesterday for you.  USPS stated 10 business days is not enough time to reach south Africa, more time is needed.  Usps stated they would start a inquiry but it will take 25 business days.  Your order was shipped with tracking & insurance please be patient the order is in transit as per the tracking.
