Maxiums Arcade Intro Help/Request
« on: April 01, 2008, 10:39:40 am »
I would like to design an intro for Maximus Arcade. Now I am aware that I can use After Effects to create this, but I have never used this in my life!

The intro I want to create looks like this:

http://www.videocopilot.net/basic/index.html

It is the video on the right.

It is basically a flash video as Maximus Arcade lets you play flash files as an intro.

Can anyone help or does anyone have this file (or similar) that I could modify???

Thanks!

There are several Firefox plugins that will allow you to save that flash file. From there you could edit it however you wanted.

REALLY??? What are the names of the programs that do that? Will it give me all the layers so it will be basically like a swf file?

The video you're looking at there looks to be actual video rendered to be displayed by flash.  That's not a vector flash file.  YOu won't be able to edit individual assets and layers.

I would like to design an intro for Maximus Arcade. Now I am aware that I can use After Effects to create this, but I have never used this in my life!

Judging by the rest of this thread, you're asking to have it handed to you on a plate....

If you want to create an intro with that sort of quality, then you have a huge learning curve here. Especially if you've never done anything like this before. There is NO software that will do it for you, unless you know what you are doing and knowing what you are doing means investing lots of time in learning the software.

What exactly is stopping you from working through the tutorials on that site and learning the basics how to do this?? That will at least give you a better idea of exactly how difficult this is, and believe me that unless you invest the time in learning it (and we're not talking 5 mins here either!) then you will not be able to produce an intro like that one.

Personally from what you've said and how you've said it, I think After Effects is a bit out of your league right now. It's a professional piece of software that is designed for professionals to use. That means it's VERY complex to wrap your head round to begin with and unless you spend many many hours with it, you're not going to be able to use it.

However! there are some much simpler video tools that will allow you to create floating and flying 3D Text and things like that....  Try something like Cyberlink, Power Producer. That should get you going and produce some video for you.

Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

Yeah - you can use Flash or a much cheaper version named SWISHMax to create SWF files and animate them as your Maximus Arcade intro logo, but I'd look at using an introductory video in a very simple video editor, such as the Microsoft one that ships with Vista Ultimate, or similar products by ULEAD etc.

It's not DEAD easy, but you can usually find a number of 'simplified' video editing programs that don't give you all that much power, but they do some fancy effects very quickly, simply and cleanly.

Personally? I just replaced the "Maximus Arcade" intro logo with my own cabinets logo.

It's fine... there's no problem with it being posted on this site. I'm not even sure who the 15 post noob Ediblegod is. Mind you, he is in San Dimas, CA. The home of the "Most Excellent" Bill and Ted. So I'm not entirely surprised at him. :laugh2:

For the flash cheater inside of you, try Sothink Decompiler.  This will give you a .fla with the layers, actionscript and frame labels in an editable file.

Now, now Fozzy...

It doesn't matter if you have thousands of posts or just a few.  We should all treat everyone with respect.

Edible God is also a member at Maximus Arcade's forums (which I mod) and I'm sure he was only trying to help.

That said, I kind of agree with Fozzy's 2nd post:

It does require some work on your end and for someone else to do it for you would probably mean a paid job.  I chose a combination of Aftereffects, Photoshop, and Vegas Video to get mine done because those are the tools I am familiar with in the line of work that I do.  I do offer intro video creation (flat $100 fee with no sound) but you can also do it on your own with plenty of tools out there.  It shouldn't be too hard.
