make your own dustwasher out of a coaster...
« on: March 08, 2008, 11:06:23 am »
as far as i know...nobody has posted this idea...

i came up with the the other night while i was out dining...

i was looking at the coaster that my glass was on and thought that it was made out of perfect dustwasher material...stiff like plastic...yet non-marring to a control panel overlay like felt...!

i just traced the outline of my cracked plastic dustwasher over an 'interesting' part of the coaster...

cut it out using scissors & drill out the hole...

looks good...!

cool idea, it looks nice.  I would be a little concerned about how they would wear over time, but i guess you could just make more.  If they are the material that I am thinking of...after a while they could absorb moisture from your hand and swell up a little.  Still, it is a cool idea that makes your panel a little bit unique

Those are meant to soak up moisture.  Not a bad idea.

Cool idea! Maybe you could glue it to the bottom of the plastic washer ...
So a leper walks into a bar and as he gets his beer, a finger falls off. The bartender who is serving him turns and pukes all over the place. The leper, feeling bad, says, "Was it my finger falling off?" The bartender turns to him and says, "No, it's the guy dipping chips into your back."

There should be a forum just for innovative stuff that people come up with like this.

Although, when I read "coaster" I actulaly thought you mean a CD coaster. Should be cool looking using a CD as a coaster.

I used stickers from the MK3 conversion kit

If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Could I use something like this to cut textured hard plastic (easy to find anywhere), or would the result be rugged or cracked?

Rugged, yes.
Cracked, depending on how careful you are.

For the ruged part, you can sand it off.
