Thanks for all the replies. I think for now I'll just stick with the 360 controller.
The glovepie, wiimote setup's not quite there yet in my opinion. The classic controller does work pretty well in most emulators but without ppjoy analog doesn't work and pj64 stinks without analog. The whole setup feels kind of hacked together also. I have to click connect in the bluetooth settings and then press 1+2 to sync them every time I want to play also I saw some auto connect scripts but they were for certain bluetooth stacks, and that was a pain too trying to find a good bluetooth stack that didn't cost money/worked. The mame gun scripts seem not quite ready yet either as they are a bit jumpy.
The classic controller is nice though. The buttons feel very nice, dpad of course great, and it has the right number of buttons for most emulators. I think a driver for the wii remote and addons will come out at some point that works well and just shows up under the joysticks in the control panel with no need to use glove pie and ppjoy and such(I really hope so anyway) then that will definitely be what I use.
The GF has now said to me that corded is not a solution, she doesn't want cords running across the living room(she let me spend a fair amount of money buying a nice htpc case with a vfd display and such so it would look nice in our living room so I guess I can understand) so efjayel those solutions are out thank you though, guess even if someone makes a usb adapter for the classic controller I can't use it.
She hates the ps controllers but I think if someone makes a dual shock 3 driver that works over bluetooth maybe we'll try those. I like the fact that the battery is built in and rechargeable over usb.
Thanks again for all the replies I think I'll mess around with setting the analog stick as the digital and see how that works I know a bunch of emulators have adjustments for that kind of setup.
(The classic controller really is nice though in my opinion and would be ideal I think just needs good drivers to come out, I'm surprised more people aren't interested in it)
