A different type of rotating cab
« on: March 05, 2008, 09:35:18 am »
Hello everyone,
i got a little dilemma here
so i was brain storming on my cab and i was telling my coworker, friends, boss about it.
well one wants this the other wants that so im trying to please everyone ( kind of remind me of that man and the mule saying when you try to please everyone you please no one!).
i really would like to have 4 person capabilities, with track ball and spinner on a panel but other people were all about steering wheel racing games.
so it got me thinking ( inspired by the 1up rotating cab ) what if i could make a cp that has a typical 4 person player cp and be able to rotate that and have steering wheels/ something else on another side ( 180 degree panel rotation 2 side cp)
i do have some drawings that i made on cab with the basic layout but i figure i ask the BYOAC gurus if this is a dumb idea, waste of time, or would anyone be interesting in hearing what i proposed to do and add insight on future problems or some concerns.
i will post pics once i get all the first but very rough drafts done on my cad and when i figure out how to post pics on here too :)
also be honest if you think its a stupid idea let me know!!!
i take full honesty and harsh critism over all since i work for an engineering firm im use to it!
i do have concerns and questions myself to ask also so ill be keeping you all posted ( mostly wriing and hooking it all up and what i would need type problems).

It might be better if you just make the 4 player control plannel by itself and make it easily taken off then make another cp for racing.  I am kinda doing this with my cab where I have a regular 4 player cp with trackball and spinner and another seperate cp for virtual on with 4 of their joysticks.

Thanks for that info but I was more interested in what software?  Are you emulating on a PC or using a console system?  Virtual On is like one of my all time favorite games.

There were versions made for the Dreamcast and PS2.  Haven't tried mame yet still building my first cab but it should be possible with enough force put into it.
