I have just vote (you might guess which one I voted to).

The main reason is the domain also does not exists, easy to remember, its short, have a good file extension.

I think I should register that domain?

I have checked all domains.

www.jsps.com is taken. The name is allready is use by some company and many other domains with same name is also registred.
www.plugmyjuke.com is not taken.
www.fonz.com is allready in use by some company.

Sorry, Kizer, Multi-Juke-Plugin is NOT been allowed to been used, because I use that name for my Jukebox Software, which is named MultiJuke. So please remove it from the poll, Thanks

Otherwise people would through it is for my software only, which is not mean.

So only one name can been used, its plugmyjuke.

Why not JSPS? Just because of the domain name?

No one would find it on google. the word haveover 1.2million entries. I guess it would been very hard to get it submitted with the bad shorten name if they search after that, even it a other good name when the long name is used, which is clear. I just diskike the bad shorted name, and normal users might never found of that is stand for.

Thas is why I really like LoadMan idea:
It's easier to remember, have a good domain name which is not taken, People would have easier to understand what the plugin system is for and its a condidate for a good logo with that name.

That why.

Hey, a very good idea to avoid that name problem. "standard" is not really needed.

Jukebox Standard Plugin System -> Jukebox Plugin System

I agree. I could change my vote into that one.

No I didn't lock the poll

When I set it up I checked that option to let you change your vote, But it does not seem to work does it?

I can 'reset' the poll if you all want?

It was you who recommended changing the DLL extension to something else so you could tell the difference between jukebox plugin files and normal DLL files.   :dizzy:

The actual software will only list those valid plugins so it probably does not matter too much, but I kind of like changing the extension to JPS.    I mean since we are creating our own SDK, sholdn't we deserve our own extension?   ;D

It just smarter to all plug-in files got their own extension, even it still is a dll. The files is just renamed.

Mala does the same thing, so why not?

It also easier to identity which is a plugin and not. Some plugins might also use other dlls as well if needed. So this also make sure these extra dll's used by some plugins is NOT readed at all.

So I asume all plugins should got a *.jps extension (since I see the last name is the final name).

I guess I register the domain name soon and having a website to this system? Can anyone make a cool logo?

Just to claiify I meant I don't care what you choose is but I would like to know to decision.

Is it: ?
1) .dll
2) .jps
3) Either of the above (but no other extension)

Please advise

I updated the VB6 Host example to only read in *.jps files. So I think go for jps. It saves checking every dll to see if they are a plugin too.

JukePlugSys is the winning name.

I just registred JukePlugSys.com domainname. Sooner or later the domain should show my little (outdated a bit) Space Fractal website, until I configere the domain on my CPANEL (so the domain use a sub folder on my exists webhotel, I have no limit of number of registred domains to the same webhotel).

Can somebody create a cool logo?

There is lots of very long mostly technical talk by some jukebox software authors like me and others (example by UncleT). I have MultiJuke as my software, and UncleT have UncleT Jukebox, and there is also Freebox and some others.

Loadman started a thread over at UncleT software to adding a Plug-in support to his software. This quickly turn to have a debate over last 2 weeks how a plug-in standard can been used in the software.

This mean a end user can use this system to add any compatible Plug-In (like MALA) to enharch the software in many ways using the standard.

Typical use can been add a coin sample when adding a coin or many other things. Other can example been a webstats feature which song that is in playing, so admin can see the queue/playing  outside the Jukebox cabinet itself (like from a work machine).

... And yes I never trouch the debate thread did go so long..... The thread(s) might not been suitable if you dosent known programmering at all.

I pretty think we would explain what it really does for the ENDUSER side as well. Can LoadMan and other tell for the ENDUSER side how to use them and what they does. They does of course not have the technical part how a application works.

It's right thise thread is very much technical and programmering and have no mean how enduser can use them. It time to marketthing for the enduser that might not understand programmering at all.

Once the official "Jukebox Plugin Standard" has been finialized completely then everything should be able to be explained in laymen's terms ... with examples.

We are just trying to writing some sample stuff now and are discovering a few things wihch need to be tweaked.   We would rather try to resolve all this stuff before releasing it to the masses.

Hopefully, there will be a NEW thread released to announce all of this neat stuff once it is finialized.

hi uncleT,

at the beginning there some words exchanged about one of those plug'ins to be about fm radio. will that ever come to life.

i am in process of gathering all my stuff (junk like the wife says) to construct a jukebox early summer and i would love to have the capability of fm radio embedded in the front end of your jukebox. it does not matter if its only 1 channel (as there is only 1 good channel in TO) but as long as the pressing of a button would just start flash at the back and have that station playing.

cheers,
claude

p.s. is there a place were i can d/l your jukebox so i can look at it...thanks

Look in his profile (there is a link to his Jukebox Software page). I guess he wont add FM radios, since he might not have a clue how it should been added and how it works.

Instead ASX and PLT extensions might been supported for netradio, which is just required these 2 extensions to been added.

I also have no planning for that too in MultiJuke.

My jukebox is located:

    http://unclet.arcadecontrols.com/Jukebox

The link is in my profile (as mentioned by Space Fractal) at the bottom of this post.

I know nothing about radio files.   Are you saying that someone can have some sort of a ASX or PLT file which can be "opened" by Windows Media Player (WMP) and then Windows Media Player will start playing a radio station feed?  If that is true, then perhaps you can email me a couple of these ASX and PLT files for me to play around with.  Perhaps adding them into an "Radio Album" and considering them "songtracks" would be a solution for you.  I have no idea whether it is this straightforward though.  If it is not, then I doubt a solution would be easy for me.

Just so it is understood ....... "Media Player" and "Windows Media Player" are two different applications.  My software uses "Windows Media Player (WMP)" only.

UncleT: Check out this post. Basically asx are small html type files that have another link to the radio stream. If you open up the file in Notepad you will see the real link starts with mms:// so if you want to add radio support you can just get the WMP ActiveX control to play the radio stream directly.

Code: [Select]
Eg wmp.url = "mms://media3.abc.net.au/triplej"

Awesome ... .. it worked in WMP  .... thanks  :applaud:

Can you place any radio link (which starts a radio station automatically) into an ASX file?

Do PLS files work the exact same way?  What is the format of a PLS file?  Do you have an example of a PLS file?

If I was going to add support for radio streams in my Jukebox software, I would just have a place where they can put the radio streams directly into a configuration.

Eg.
Code: [Select]
[Radio]
JJJ=mms://media3.abc.net.au/triplej

So I wouldn't even worry about asx or pls files. Although maybe pointing the wmp.url to those files would work also? I'm not sure.

Decade Old Work: MultiFE, ArcadeMusicBox
Today Works: Various Spectrum Next games from Rusty Pixels and html5 games.

I think you should only go ASX, because you use Windows Media Player. PLS is mostly for other media players like Winamp (I use bass.dll for my player in MultiJuke).

Some net radios might have 2 deficent streams in the ASX file and pick one of the stream that works (etc the first stream server is full).

That is why I more prefer ASX for Windows Media Player, but both methods like HeadKaze said is also fine.

NB. it seen these treads should been moved to my big thread (it nothing about the name to doing)?
