what the... now it's $799 ??  You were pushing it at $599.  You know the whole point of an "auction" is to let the bidders drive the price up...   ;)

Anyone interested in paying retail (but you have to buy a bundle) Walmart has a $679 bundle that is in stock every couple of days (if not more frequently)

Check out www.wiitracker.com

Ya..  i had to mark up the price to stop someone from "Buy now"

I wanted to wait till the last week of Christmas shopping to see how much it would go for.  I didnt expect the prices to go up so fast.

I thought listing it would get my store some traffic and maye people would buy some other stuff.

Well..  I have since sold 2 megatouch machines after posting the Wii, with more inquiries incoming.

What I dont understand, is the hostility people have towards people selling Wii's.  Frustration ?

very strange.

I dont think its because you are selling a Wii, but rather that the price is so high.

It's not that your selling a Wii, it's that your selling it far and away for more than retail. You (and thousands of people like you) buy products knowing they are in short supply, not because you want them, but because you want to make a profit off it. Thus making the product even more in demand. In the business world it's called price gouging.

From your auction:
"You have left your christmas shopping too late and now YOU have to pay the price $$$ ! OR you can have some whinny, dissapointed children on Christmas morning ? Totally up to you. "

That attitude says that the buyer needs to cough up the cash or deal with unhappy children. Is it really hard for you to understand why this type of behavior is not considered acceptable?

I don’t see anything wrong with it.  Its totally legal and if someone doesn’t like my product price (or pitch / attitude) im not forcing anyone to view or buy my items.

I actually thought it would be funny to post this up.  And indeed it has been funny to watch peoples reactions.  I didn’t expect this kind of Flaming though.  I just thought it would make people chuckle and throw in an offer.  But I guess people are just frustrated from the holiday season shopping.  I really couldn’t care less, but I guess its because im looking from the sellers point of view.

I am trying to spark interest in some of my other products i am selling.  For all intents and purposes, its worked.

I like money.  I think its only fair to try and get the MAX $$$ i can for this item.  Perhaps i could have been a bit more polite about it, but then again, they are just words. There is nothing obscene about anything i have said.

But the truth is...  I’m not hard up for the money.  If it sells, it sells.  That’s why I put "best offer".  I’m not expecting to get $799.

Again, I see nothing wrong with it.

I bet he bought all the hannah montana tickets to sell at inflated prices as well.  Shame on you.

edit-i doubt someone will post their best offer if they see that price.  it will scare them away if their best price is 250 and yours is 800 or whatever you put.  now if you really want to make some money lower your prices to kill off any competition and then jack up the prices.

My problem is exactly as the folks after me stated...  you are in this for a quick buck.  What the hell did you expect coming on this newsgroup and posting something like this.  Did you actually think people here would applaude you for gouging people?

My 2 boys (aged 7 & 9) have been saving their $ for a Wii since the Wii came out (I could have bought it for them, but they are learning the value of saving this way).

They finally have the money and we cannot find any Wii's thanks to people like you!

That, my friend, is where the hostility is coming from.  I am the one that has to go from store to store with my 2 boys only to hear that some jerk-off just bought 3 of them stating that they are going on ebay as he was leaving.  I then have to see the pain (yes, it is truly pain) in the eyes of my kids!

My youngest is very sensitive and actually started crying at one store because we missed a Wii by only a couple of minutes.

This bastard sat in an entire empty section at the Wiggles concert while there was a bus full of paraplegic war orphans in the parking lot.

I've been trying to find a Wii too, actually.  Should have started looking 3 months ago.

Holly crap this is good stuff...  I love a good sob story (no offense ;-p).

I learned at a young age that you can always get what you want and 'things' shouldn’t make you happy.  Perhaps that’s a lesson people should teach their children.  Wonder where they (children) get that idea from ?  Us maybe ?

If anything this is a good thread to deter someone from selling these things, or doing anything similar.

keep the flames a coming !  See if we cant get this baby locked.

That sob story was ridiculous.  You knew a shortage was coming, and the things have basically been selling out almost instantly as soon as they hit the shelf FOR A YEAR.  Why didn't you just buy one and hide it in the closet until your kids could pay you enough?

Whatever dude...  call it what you want.

It's called closure...  what would my kids actually learn if I just pulled it out of a closet?  Part of their joy is picking it up from the store.

This thread is done.

Bring $450.

Still a better deal than what we are talking about here - even including gas money.

salt and vinegar chips kick ass.

Well the kids could always get something after christmas and have them use the time to save up for some games.  who knows maybe a good deal will pop up for a sale on some games.

Absolutly...  save their Christmas money and get one for retail.

I will, of course, be able to buy 3 for what i sold one for...   but thats another story  ;-p

I guess I'm in the minority here. If I had an extra one, I'd be pawning it off on ebay as well. I was smart enough to buy one (less than 1 month ago) for under $260 shipped on ebay. I'm glad I didn't wait.

I don't see that much of a problem with what he's doing.  It's not nice, really, but he's not required to be nice.  I have more of a problem with idiots paying 3x retail to get the thing than I do with someone asking for 3x retail for one.

Its really funny to me that somewhere other than PnR we hear an arguement that something shouldn't  be done to "protect the children".
This happens every year with some gadget or toy or something, remember Cabbage Patch Kids and Power Ranger "shortages"?
I am still laughing at all the suckers who bought IPhones last year only to have Apple drop the price $100 six months later, just because they had to have it!
I'm as much of a gadget geek as the next but damn, rent, utilities etc. have to come first!
Kids have to get over this BS sense of entitlement.
Let the fools who want to pay $1000 bux for a Wii or whatever pay it, it won't be me but I sure as hell ain't gonna blame the seller for making a buck.

ARCADIAC!

The act of selling something for more than retail isn't as much of a problem as his "Hooray for me, look what I'm doing" attitude knowing people are searching for these hard to find items. Why would he post it here or anywhere for that matter?

Why would someone post somthing in the Buy/Sell/Trade section a 'hard to find / rare' item ?..   odd indeed.

Also, I don’t find my ad offensive.  Maybe i would if i were the one searching for the item...  but that’s a matter of circumstance.  NOT MY PROBLEM.

The only reason this thread has gotten so much attention is people like you expressing their opinions.  Let the thread die and stop responding if you don’t like what is happening.

You really have nothing better to do ?  Or maybe its cuz you cant find a Wii...  in that case, good luck in your search.  If you spent as much time looking as you do complaining, you would have one.

Ps: when I say ‘you’ I mean everyone…  not just the last poster.

I have more of a problem with idiots paying 3x retail to get the thing than I do with someone asking for 3x retail for one.
Agreed.

Arm, regardless of the negative/positive/neutral posts, I'm curious to see how the auction pans out. I checked out the "cornucopia" after reading the listing, so it must be driving traffic to your store. Question is, will someone buy a product with a sarcastic slap in the face sales pitch...

but they still make them.  its not like nintendo went out of business and you are sitting on the last known wii for sale.

and yes people might not like that you are advertising to something that your are selling way above retail.  sure its nice to find that person who doesnt know better but this isnt the place to talk about it.  kinda like those jerks who went to a game convention bought two sets of the starcraft board game (despite that being disallowed) and then reselling one for twice the price plus high shipping costs to "let those who couldnt go get a chance top buy it".

hmmmmm...

lol !...  i love the SW refrence.  Im watching empire right now while i re cap monitors.  ;-p

the slap in the face is intentional.  You can see that i dont do it in my other ads.  The reason behind it, is to keep it up as long as possible.
