X Arcade Trackball Mounting Plate?
« on: October 16, 2007, 09:58:13 pm »
Hello,

I've been looking over the forums for about a week now and have decided to make my own panel.

Does anybody know if the X Arcade trackball can be mounted with a standard Happs mounting plate?

I plan on putting a 3" trackball, TT2 spinner, 2 player set up with a dedicated 4 way stick on the panel. I may leave room for a flight stick in the future, but don't know if it will be worth it. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!!

I should add that I searched the forums and only found instances where people mounted the x arcade trackball without a plate by just routing the underside of the panel. I would prefer to use a mounting plate and x arcade does not offer one. Maybe someone knows if they are compatible with the happs plate.

The reason I figured I'd get the x arcade trackball is to save some $ and they give a warranty on their products.

Any help is appreciated.

The X-arcade trackball is the same case as the Betson trackball.  It fits perfectly in the Happ mounting plate.

Have you considered saving even more money and getting this?

http://www.x-arcade.com/mame-panel.shtml

The only thing is that it does not have a spinner built in, but I'm sure you can add one yourself with a plug and play USB interface.

Thanks for showing me that. It's a great idea, but I have been using an X Arcade solo for the past few years - and I do think they make good products. I just want to build my own to really customize it and to have a good project to work on.

I am going to have to buy most of the power tools required, but I should own them anyway. Since I'll have them, I may end up building a custom cabinet to put my control panel in. I'll just make sure the panel is made to be compatible for that later.

don't forget craiglist.  It's a good place to buy used tools.  Half of my cabinet tools are from there.
