LED brightness ratings (MCD)
« on: October 04, 2007, 08:11:14 pm »
Just looking for some input on MCD (brightness) of LED's needed for button illumination. Is there a recommended rating I should start with? I'm guessing better than 5000mcd is a good start. I used GGG's button blasters on my last build. They had no ratings...so I have nothing to go by.

 Cornchip.

I used some 16000mcds on my last illuminated panel.
Probably could have guided planes in if they were outside. Very bright but all good under the buttons.

I think you also need to look at the angle at which the light is spread.

I'll definitely worry about the viewing angle of the LED as you mentioned. Thanks for the heads up.
