KE72 Shift + f7 SaveState Mame
« on: September 12, 2007, 12:38:45 pm »
Has anyone been able to get Shift + f7 SaveState in MAME using the KE72 with one button press?  If so what does your config look like?

I dont have a ke72, I used keywiz eco, but I did put load/save buttons on my last arcade. I just had to remap the keywiz so that one of the inputs I wasnt using, was remapped to F7.
So if you can map one of the inputs to F7, it is possible, since player 1 action button 4 is the left shift key. (By MAME default.)
I used two diodes to route the signals from the two load/save buttons and the F7 and shift inputs.
But it may be possible to map two button presses to one input on the KE72? I dont know.
It would be nice to know though!

Yes you can map multiple keys to one button press using the KE72 .... I believe it allows up to 32 keys to be mapped at one time.    This is how I use to execute a BAT file by pressing one button only.

Although mapping SHIFT and F7 to one button press using the KE72 is possible, you will have to wait until I get home later tonight for me to check the syntax for you and give you an example.

Alright, here is an example syntax which will map button "33" to be "Shift-F7"

IN33:  [(+)SHIFT][F7][(-)SHIFT]

Is this what you are asaking for, or do you need more information?

The KE72 allows for delays to be placed in the mapping configuration line.  Do you need help with this or do you already know the syntax?   I am at work right now so I can not help you yet if required.

On my versions of Mame anyway,
Press LEFT SHIFT and F7.
This will pop up a message telling you to press button to save game to. I have found any of the keyboard keys work except Player one buttons and escape, and probably some others I havent tried.
This saves the game at the location designated by the key you pressed.
To reload the game, just press F7. You will be asked to choose location. Press the same button you saved it to, and you are at the same point in the game where you saved it.
This doesnt work with all games.
And some games give me a message that its not supported, but it does work anyway.
This is pretty neat, you just have to remember which button holds your saved game.
