u360 question
« on: August 19, 2007, 08:46:18 am »
There is an optional hard spring and restrictor plates for this joystick.  Are both really necessary, or could I get by with say just the spring or just the restrictor plate.

Also the restrictor plates come in 4-8 way and circular.  What would the circular one be used for?

The circular restrictor shortens the throw, but doesn't otherwise change the feel (i.e. still no corners).

The rest is basically personal preference.

i asked the same thing and basically it's all personal preference...

I bit the bullet and just ordered Medium Springs + Restrictor kits ... I'll see if/which I use when I try them for myself.

Ditto. This is my next step while waiting for the paint to dry and U360's are my joystick of choice. I haven't had experience with other joysticks around this site - just the ones I knew as a kid... ;)

Artifact - In case you haven't noticed yet, I'm about one step behind you. So I'll probably join you in alot of your threads!

Does Ultimarc not allow you to choose the desired spring when you order the U360? ???

if you have not done so already i recomend the longer handles as well.  the standard ones are too short if you are using 3/4" mdf

Correct! make sure you order the longer shafts if you mount on 3/4" control panel board... that's what I ordered as well (from Divemaster127)

I didn't order the longer shafts, as I want to see how it feels with the standard ones.  I like the shorter feel for some reason, kinda like the doa 4 stick I have.

nope...which is really too bad...the extra cost is one of the reasons i've still been waiting on randy's sticks to come out...

had i been able to customize the spring from the start...i'd have gotten the u360s a long time ago...

same with the restrictors... it's not possible to order say... a U360 + Circle Restrictor ... you have to pay for all the restrictors.

It's not THAT expensive, but it all adds up!

I may have dreamed this but I thought that Andy with Ultimarc had said once his inventory of weak springs went down somewhat, he would give a choice of springs.  Didn't he say that last year sometime?

Would of been nice cause I had to pay extra for the harder springs. IMO The hard springs make a world of difference but yet, I would still like them to be even harder.
