Front end able to flip "some" games
« on: August 02, 2007, 01:56:40 pm »
I'm currently using MAMEwah v963 with MAME v53...
mostly works fantastic but there are some vertical
shooter games (ex.  Grid Seeker Project Stormhammer)
that default to an inverted screen... just wondering
if there's anyway of easily flipping these w/o messing
up the rest of my setup??

Any help is appreciated...    :notworthy:

when in the game, hit the tab key.  In there should be options to flip or rotate the current screen, and those settings will only affect that game.

oh.  MAME 0.53?  ok, not sure if that tab menu goes back that far, but that's the first thing to try.

Awesome... yes, there is a workaround, but
you have to dig a little bit:

1)  Hit Tab to get into the Options mode in MAME
2)  Under configure for this game only, select Service Mode (had
to scroll down to see that it was "F2" and not "9,0, or -")
3)  Configure as needed

Works on Palmmame too -- hehheheh, just
got Palmmame version .20 and have Dangun Feveron
and DoDonpachi working on my portable now.

Thanks for the idea!

As far as a front end able to flip some games:
GLaunch has config files for each emulator which has a section called "Per ROM Options"
Here you can assign options for each game, if desired.
Example in mame.cfg:
to rotate Galaga88 to vertical:
Galaga88 -rol
