Ultimarc.com = impressive people
« on: August 01, 2007, 04:35:50 pm »
I just wanted to make a public thread about how impressed I was with the way andy at ultimarc treated me. I am using windows vista on my mame cab (I know, you all hate vista, but I do not) I ran into a few configuration issues, and he was so beyond helpful. He ended emails with things like “If this does not cure the problem, let me know. we will definitely resolve it.” Which makes me feel he cares and will stay by my side until things are resolved. He responded to my emails respectfully, supplied me with links to trouble shooting, and general kept to the point of helping me. He kept it simple, and gave me quick accurate help. I applaud him and his customer service. I will definitely be a returning customer. And the WinIPAC is an amazing setup. :clap for ultimarc:

Just don't ever criticize the components he uses for his products (i.e. cheap USB encoder chips).  I learned that the hard way...

Welcome to BYOAC Andy.  ::)

Uh,  I don't think that is Andy as he does post here from time to time and the majority of folks here know of him,  his stuff,  and his reputation for being a good guy.  I've ordered a number of items from Andy and have been happy with each and every purchase.

I have had good experiences with ultimarc. buisnesswise he has been better then pretty much any other company i have dealt with. both with questions and also with dealing with possible defective products. I would not hesitate to order or deal with him or his products again.

No kidding.  Sometimes the negativity on these forums (seems worse as of late) makes me want to stop coming around.       :banghead:      Quite a long time ago it wasn't as bad...

I have had nothing but extremely good experiences w/ Andy and if I had an AGP or PCIE slot in my current rig I'd be getting an ArcadeVGA too.  I only wish other places I deal with had the same kind of customer service.  The only other mame related place I've dealt with and had a better than normal experience has been mamemarquees.  I for one am glad people make "kudos" threads as well as the "watch out" threads i.e. retrozone.  Always good to be informed.

I have to agree. Scott at mamemarquees even called my house to double check my recent order before moving on. Nice guy indeed.  ;D

The Ultimarc store is the best one I've ordered from so far on the net.
Swift delivery, just two and a half day. Also, when I discovered that one of the Cherry microswitches was faulty, he just sent me a new one right away. That's great service.

I know I've posted this story before, but it's worth mentioning again.

A year or so ago, I ordered two joysticks from Andy.  They were shipped very promptly, and I received them much earlier than I expected.  When I opened the box, I noticed that one of the joysticks was of the wrong type.  I emailed Andy about it, and I offered to ship back the joystick.  He shipped me the correct joystick immediately, and did not take the other one back.

So, what happened here?  Andy saw that there was an issue, and corrected it in the best way possible -- he took a loss (I'm sure) on the deal to make a happy customer.

I am very happy with him and his business, and would recommend him to anybody looking for great parts and fantastic service.

Yup, Andy's communication is top notch and his customer service is well beyond what anyone could hope for.

Shipping is dirt cheap and incredibly fast.

Amazing that people still think the customer is important, even after a sale and they have your money. No BS about what their time is worth, or re-stock fees and all that crap. He did the right thing. two more thumbs up... way to go Andy!

I order at groovy game gear other than ultimarc, purely because it is cheaper.  Andy still makes me pay for DHL in the UK when there is a perfectly good postal system (well not at the moment... ;D ) he could use to keep the costs down.

I don't see the point shipping a mini pac courier when a bubble envelope and a 2nd class stamp would suffice. City Link charges less.

If I order an encoder via GGG I get the same level of service and product for less money.

Go Figure.
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

Yeah I'll agree. Ultimarc shipped my U360's and I-pac lightning fast! I had a problem with one of my U360's but Andy was quick to help and solved the problem. Awesome guy. And no, I'm not Andy.

GroovyGameGear wasn't the same as Ultimarc but they where also pretty speedy and quick to answer my questions. Their customer service was also way above many other online merchants. And I'm talking about big companies that deal with huge amounts of online transactions. You'd think they'd have their crap together but they dont. I gladly recommend both GGG and Ultimarc.
