Software V's Hardware
« on: June 28, 2007, 10:51:13 am »
Hi All :),

Quick question...

I am currently running my old pc (AMD-K6 - my first pc...lol  :cheers:)., with WinCab, as a dedicated jukebox.

I am finding that, at times, my music will:

1) Jump a track (although I think this has to do with scratches on CD's during ripping);

2) Provide a not-so-nice 'static' sound when the page is turned (0.25- 0.5 sec.).

3) stutter between page turns.

I have added a sound card, but wonder if I need to upgrade the graphics...
I have dropped my display to the min. , but to no avail...

It doesn't happen all the time (maybe 1 in 6 page turns...?)

I have read in other posts about buffers...'Please Explain...' (ask an Aussie...lol   ;D)

Do I need to upgrade the processor/system or  look at upgrading the graphics?

I am no expert in these fields, so advice is welcome.

Regards,

Monster :)

Maybe chris can answear these problems in the wincab forum?

songs should not been skipped if played with mp3 in wincap.

You may need to rerip with maximum on 2 or 4x speed with problem cd. The higher speed you rip, the more inaccurate it may been due (speciel witch scrathes and so).
