At that price you could have someone and I mean a Good someone build you a cabinet, Look alike or not. get real, over pricing is not the way to get customers, Yeah I know everything costs money. Smart money will say every time, find a friend and they will help you build what ever and what ever you want. Sorry for the bad input , but

No problem.  We value all feedback.  Honestly, our price point was originally lower.  We recently attended a classic arcade show where several vendors were offering DIY kits for jukeboxes at a much higher price point.   Considering that we are one of the first on-line companies to offer such a product, we are introducing our product at the current retail price.  We have previously offered discounts for BYOAC members and are more than willing to do so again.  Say $50 off:

http://www.mameroom.com/product_VirtualJukebox.asp?coupon=JB50OFF

Actually, I believe it may be a good time to offer $50 off on our Ultimate Arcade II cabinet kit as well:

http://www.mameroom.com/product_UltimateArcadeII.asp?coupon=UA50OFF

Yes, many people are lucky enough to know someone who posseses the skills and tools to construct virtually anything they need.  Our business caters to those where these options are not available.

Thank you again for your feedback.

That is a very nice design, and the plans appear to be very detailed. The kit is a little steep, especially considering it comes with zero controls or internals.

I do have one question, you say all controls/internals sold separately. I don't see any sources or links to where to buy the controls shown in the picture. It seems as though your cabinet is very specifically cut to use the exact controls in the picture. What kind of estimated cost would the buttons be, and do you have a source?

All of the buttons can be purchased from www.happcontrols.com for around $30 or so.

The small square/rectangular buttons are miniature pushbuttons and the arrow buttons are triangular illuminated low-profile butttons.

Ahh, it was the numerical keys that threw me off. Those are stickers then on your finished model?

Supplied with the kit, or get them yourself?

My 2 cents might not be much, but............

It is a nicely designed kit for crowd your aiming at.
I would supply the buttons with the kit at that price, or offer them at a discount with screen printing.

Your manual is nicely done.

way to expensive for me but it does look nice.  However I would be using a touch screen so it wouldn't work for me anyway.

It designed to one software, due I can see it use many buttons. Does VMJ really need 24 buttons?

There would been very good if it was available without holes for buttons, since they may use another configuration (even with same software).

Example:
- Thouchscreen applications (like Freebox) use no buttons.
- SK-Jukebox use 12 buttons (keypad design) as basic config.
- MultiJuke only require 6 buttons to operate (yes my software was designed to use with few buttons as well).

I Doubt even VMJ could requrie less buttons, and move more admin like buttons to a remote control?

So it would been good if it was available to get one with no holes for buttons, and work out these holes by the user, so they can use any configuration they want for any choosed software (of course includning VMJ).

I bought and built one of these. Now that it is done I am very happy with how it turned out. However there are a few things that need to be improved.

The manual really only tells you how to assemble the box. There is nothing about how to mount the monitor, where, to buy parts, etc. Once I got the manual for the build it yourself plans I was able to put the pieces together. One problem was this manual indicated a 15 " screen which I bought when I was getting my parts together. In reality a 15" screen is too small for the monitor opening.

Also things are very tight as far as mounting in this box. If I built one myself from scratch I would definitely bump up the dimensions a little bit.

Not that they claim differently, but the buyer needs to be aware that you are getting materials and instructions to put the cab together and that is it. There is a parts list on the other manual, but as far as sources most of them are pretty generic, "computer store" "craft store"

As far as the number of buttons being overkill they are pretty cheap to buy. Better to have a few extra that a program down the road needs.

As with all of our products, we offer free customizations to the control panel layout, although we do not advertise it.  So, a customer can order a control panel without any controls or only the controls they want (where they want them).

Wasn't VMJ in the process of being sold to a company other than mameroom designs? It was on the VMJ forum before it closed.

Yes.  A deal was in the works to sell VMJ to a media authoring company.  We could not come to an agreement of terms and the deal fell through.

I like the looks of the kit and it is probably appropriately priced for those who cannot roll their own.   It does seem to be high priced though compared to your cocktail cab kit which sells for the same price and your bartop kit that is only 199.

Done and Done,

We lowered the cost of the jukebox cabinet due to several requests.  We lowered to retail price to $199.  However we disabled the $50 coupon for the jukebox.

We also generated a 10% discount coupon for the cocktails:

That is what I call good customer response even if the average BYOACer might not be your ideal customer.   Now I hope everyone who does not want to build their own will give the VMJ team a chance to provide them with a DIY cab.

I was tempted at that price however for touchscreen use you need to use a projective (Is that right?) Touchscreen if you are mounting behind glass or perspex and they are not cheap! Also the shipping would be expensive to the UK, not a bad price though.
