I'm not an electrical expert so don't take this as gospel, but I'm pretty sure that as long as your power supply is properly grounded, you'll be okay, since the ATX plug that goes from the power supply to the motherboard has ground pins, which should ground the motherboard itself.

Ditto.  I've had my motherboard installed this way for months without any issues at all.  I'm just using pcb standoffs to attach it to the inner side of my cabinet.  I'm not using any additional ground wires.  But if it makes you more comfortable, connect a wire from a grounding point on the motherboard to the power supply housing.

I think a short time out would be enough...

I'm n the camp thats jsut got my mobo bolted to the wood inisde the cab, no grounding other than through the power suppy cable, and the PS is just run into a power strip. All my grounding for buttons and controls goes to either my wiring block or a a seperate grounding block, both wired to my IPAc

Those standoffs are quite nifty!  Where'd you pick them up?

Oscar, the inside of that cab looks strangely sinister.  I don't trust it.

I'm sure they're available elsewhere, but I got mine from therealbobroberts.com.  Look for "Pcb mounting feet".

Yes, Bob Roberts has them.  I actually picked mine up from Wico for 4/$1 while I was ordering some other parts.

BTW, if you also need panel clamps (shown on same page), I highly recommend the Wico style over the Happ ones.  The "eye" portion of the latch is threaded so you just screw the eye in or out to adjust the tension.  I find these much easier to use and install than the Happ ones which only rely on spring tension.  Over time I find the Happ ones loosen up and loose tension so you have to remount them periodically if you want them to stay really tight.

OK What I want to know is where you got the HD and CDROM Mounting L Brackets...or are they just standard home depot L-Brackets with smaller screws used?

I was going to use plumbers tape to secure my HD and CD-Rom....

But l-brackets..whoda thunkit! :)

If you are referring to mine.. the black brackets I used were left over from a radio installation kit, or perhaps a car amp kit, I can't quite remember for sure but it was definitely from some kind of car audio equipment.  I scrounged around in the garage until I found something, and those brackets fit the hard drive perfect.  :)
