Mame controls for Super World Stadium '99
« on: May 23, 2007, 12:38:34 pm »
Does anyone know of a website that has arcade CP control instructions?  KLOV does not show CAB or CP controls for the game Super World Stadium '99.  I have the latest control.dat file but there is no controls or CAB pics.  Since it's Japanese I have no idea how to replace pitchers/batters etc. during the game  :banghead:.  Any help or knowledge of this game would be great and if there's a website other than KLOV maybe it would help for future questions relating to controls.  Cheers!

I usually figure this stuff out simply from test trying out the buttons. Obviously this game should be hard to figure out since it uses 6 buttons.

If I where you, I would do a save point right before a selection screen and test try out a button and see what outcome you get. Then you can re-load the save point and try a different button and again see what happens.

Good suggestion about the save point although I have never done that --BINGO! Either that, or I was attempting to say "before" but it was too many letters to type--  ???.  I did try other buttons but I can only use 3 buttons for the game?  I guess I'll have to keep trying by trial & error and researching  ;D

If the game takes 6 buttons then it isn't going to be playable with 3.

Not sure what you mean by the above paige.

What I meant is that my CP has 6 buttons but I noticed that only player buttons 1,2,3 work during the game.  Just wanted to clear that up cause it may have been interpreted the wrong way.

FWIW, the mame driver is still in progress, and the game is just using a generic-for-that-system input list.  Of the 30 games in the driver, there are only four different input lists, including the generic one, and only four games don't use the generic list.  IOW, 26 games in the driver use the generic 6 buttons input, and some might have used less buttons.  Add that older World Statdium games that were on older hardware systems only used 3 buttons.

IOW, the driver might say six, and the hardware was able to do six, but the game might have used three.  So the answer is "Maybe you only need three buttons".  ;D

Yes, that could very well be it. Try going into service mode in Uo Poko sometime, the hardware supports the full JAMMA standard even though the game doesn't use it for anything other than service mode.

Well, if ANYONE can figure out how you can replace batters, baserunners, and pitchers during the game, I'll buy you a beer!   I've tried everywhere on-line and can't find any info for the controls  :banghead:.

Unfortunately the only info in Japanese is the in-game instructions.  During the setup screen and during gameplay various boxes pop up in Japanese.  Most of the small boxes that appear when a player is at bat is pretty easy to figure out, and of course when there's an out, double play, home run, etc. the in-game voice says it in English.  I'm just confused at the start-up menu and the options I can chose and also how to sub in players/pitchers.  Thanks for the reply, I'll owe her a Sake if she can give me any help!  ;D

if anyone can tell me how to do the following i'll give it a go , can you take a snapshot in mame , a grab of whats on screen as it were. i could email her them if so. she doesnt live close or i'd get her to play the game unfortunately. and im sure if i tried to get her to install it etc she'd get annoyed with me. but if her friend wins his race today she'd be in a good mood so fingers crossed for him.

uber if you can do the screen grab thing and maybe post em to photobucket or something that would be awesome and would show what exactly you need to translate maybe even take a pic if it comes out clear enough

Well, you'll have to give me a few days on this as I'm unable to play for a few days.  I'll see what I can do and send you a PM.  Thanks again.

Offense:
Button 1: extra base/steal
Button 2: swing
Button 3: bunt

Defense
Button 1: run to a base (joy for direction)
Button 1: pitcher pick off move
Button 2: pitch
Button 2: throw ball
Start button: change pitcher

I didn't get to try it but I assume that the start button when you are on offense allows you to change batters.  Also, I didn't check to see what button 3 does on defense if anything.

HooPZ you were right!  I tried the player 1 button and it does allow you to change batters/pitchers/ runners during the game.  Thanks a lot, now the game will be more entertaining.  Now if I only spoke Japanese...
